As if $200k would have been enough to make the game?

Those graphics are hideous. With all the tools available to even indie devs these days, why make it look like this? If they were trying to purposely make it look nostalgic, then they missed the mark.

Could it be gamers are finally wiseing up to KS'er shenanigans or was this dev team just really bad at generating hype?

I don't know why these small companies attempt mmorpgs. They have to be the most complex type of game to make along with having to compete with WoW, FFXIV, ESO, New World, etc etc. ..

This looks and sounds like a bad Chinese WoW rip off from 2006.

Thankfully it failed and hopefully it never comes out.

Not surprised since it looked like shit.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

Kickstarter shows there is minimal interest for the game... but we're going to hire more people and let's go!

Every business venture needs a way to show it has an audience, and his one has shown it does not. Time to quit while you're ahead.

I love kickstarter.  I would not donate to a software project.  ANY software project.  Coding is too complicated to give firm deadlines and specific projections.  I've worked in the software development industry, and I had very smart people coding, and you always had to adjust timelines and manage client expectations.  Cost is also something that very very rarely doesn't increase.  No sir, funding a software project off of Kickstarter is a bad idea, no matter the industry.

Especially when there seems to be plenty of VC funding out there for teams with promising ideas and a solid plan.
