That number's only mind numbing if you know their expenses, and said revenue exceeds said expenses. It could be a mind numbing waste of time. Granted, given their pace for developing more expansions and update my guess is ESO is still quite profitable. Still if you subtract out a decade worth of developer salaries, server expenses, and those pesky taxes, I bet it's less mind numbing.

For reference, the total player spend for WoW (which has a required subscription and minimal microtransactions) has been estimated at over $9 billion. Yes it's been around twice as long, but the average per year is still a lot higher.

As Angrakhan has said, this means nothing. If they need 3 billion then they are behind. If they need 1 billion then that's better.

Hopefully they've now got enough income to produce a better mmo keyboard/mouse control format, rather than handicapping this.

Other games manage a more even mouse/keyboard v console balance, it's well overdue time this one did.

There has never been an indication they have an intent to change their control format. It's not likely going to suddenly become so at this stage of the game.

It doesn't have much meaning in isolation, that's for sure, but to some it will sound better than the net earnings would have.
