The fire spell looks like a flame thrower, so I'd add it into the "amazing" category. It does brutal AOE damage to boot. I'm maining thief currently, my main pawn is a mage for heal and cleanse but she also runs the fire and ice spells, and I run a sorc and a tank either Figher or Warrior as my other two pawns. Very devastating combo which clears groups of enemies quickly. As thief I aim for high priority targets to drop them quickly as my group mows down the chaff.
As long as I can move to cancel chanting I don't mind being locked in place to cast. It's when games lock me in place till I am killed because it wouldn't let me move out of something that really bothers me. Even an idiot mage would stop chanting an move if they saw something about to smack the living shit out of them.
"In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’re going to sit there while you cast your spell and like it."
This is how I've always thought mages should be.
And yeah, in both the first and this game, the spells look amazing.
Gosh, just so hard to do 2 things at once huh. Moving and casting so hard. Geeeeeeeeee.
So magic isn’t real. However, if it was real and a task that requires concentration and craft, I imagine it would be difficult to do while moving quickly. And if it was really complex then any movement would be impossible.
now if it isn’t a task that requires concentration then sure.
It just depends on what the creators imagine the process to be.

Either that of someone at Capcom is saying "Oh S**t we forgot to let the mage move!"
The idea they could get to this point without deciding that's how they want to balance the mage is laughable. It is their game, let them do something a tiny bit different.

In some ways it’s very “Dungeons and Dragons “ in that mages had to stand still or at the most move slowly.
in any case, for my tastes with regards to balancing, a stationary or slow moving mage is my preference. Give the nukers their power but build in some downsides so it’s not a boring “blast fest” where nothing can touch them.

You can move while casting, but only slowly and it slows down your casting speed. However, you can choose to run away mid-cast, but it cancels your spell.

Your reading comprehension sucks if that is what you got from his post.
What part of his post suggested his preference was due to difficulty?
