    I feel like private servers are really the best way to experience WoW now-a-days; i used to play a lot of private servers back in the day- namely WoWScape (server emulating retail WoW) and WoWGasm (server designed as a 'Funserver', extremely customized).

    The beauty of private servers, is that development isn't incentivised or prioritised over the players enjoyment; so things are allowed to move at a much slower pace and the worry of new content over the horizon isn't there to stress people out- which allows communities to grow differently then they do in Retail.

    Private WoW servers are really great. Haven't touched retail in a long time.
