I’m about to Crowdfund a tabletop game when it launches in a week or so. I’ve backed tons of games.
Some people keep touching the hot stove even after getting burned… but I can acknowledge the issue is on my end.
YOU are the problem!
If you think a team can deliver then there is logic to putting cash in, but how can you truly assess that? But then I have never been an early adopter. I always think it is better to wait for the edges to be smoothed of by other people who love to adopt early.
Even before we had digital I was quite happy to let mates buy games before me and wait for the reviews. Multiplayer changed that and I think that's one of the reasons why the industry became so keen on multiplayer, you want to be playing with your mates.
I hope your baking works out for you, however I can but recommend the mittens I use by waiting when it comes to helping games cook.

Yeah 99% of my gaming is with friends. Only game I can remember playing solo recently was Solasta Crown of the Magister and that was to give me the basis to make some homemade group modules.
I have zero problems with bugs, glitches, rough starts. I simply cannot abide blatant dishonesty. Shit doesn’t always workout. I get it. But be honest. Don’t try and tell me you are going to make 5 games in 2 years when it takes you 4 months to analyze a simple survey with a few hundred responses. That’s simply bullshit and the guy saying it is a clown and so is anyone that believes him.

Like I've said, pretty much most of my crowd funded projects have come to fruition.
I think one was canceled as it didn't make what it needed to and the only other holdouts are Pantheon and Camelot Unchained.
I held off backing Pantheon until I started seeing proper game play. I didn't back their kickstarter because it was ridiculous. Once they actually started showing stuff I felt I could throw them $100.
For Camelot Unchained, I really didn't care about the game but there was such excitement from the Dark Age of Camelot people I thought "what the heck, I'll support their game and see what all the fuss was about.
But, in general my gut, my intuition is pretty spot on. I've even seen game demos that I absolutely loved but didn't give money because I felt it wasn't enough to warrant backing.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Yeah… most projects deliver. Board games, single player computer games, even a PlayStation one. Just the MMORPGs that have a massive fail rate.
I can deal with the failure. Just not the lying and disrespect many show.
Also… if you are paying yourself six (or 7!!!) figures with the money people donated In going to tend to be very skeptical of any delays and shenanigans. If you are working on a sweat equity basis, I’ll give far more benefit of the doubt.
In the case of CoE we had a clown that thought he was a CEO and as far as I know, he still never actually opened his books to show how much he paid himself, his wife or other family members directly or as contractors.

It's so strange for him to shoot barbs at MMORPG.com for simply reporting on his "work". It seems like he wants everyone to forget about the projects, while simultaneously announcing new spinoffs.

My take: He thrives on victimhood and openly states he believes he is on his Hero’s Journey. He can’t accept the fact that he is the villain and the only way to complete the Hero’s Journey is to take responsibility for his failures with humility.
He has also surrounded himself with a group of people unable to acknowledge their own gullibility and eager to blame outside forces for the failures. IMHO it’s very much cult like behavior.

His two fans on Reddit have taken to trashing Pax Dei & Manor Lords for achieving what Chronicles of Elyria & Kingdoms of Elyria were supposed to do, respectively. I get fan loyalty, but it's also disgusting to belittle the efforts of people who see their dreams through.
