Time to find another hobby...

Games has become so shitty from 3 x A game studies that fails to simple "games" on steam that is called Banana where you see a banana on ur screen with a timer or something...

Where are we today..2024 and games are littery dying faster than they can get released and some "devs" even try to scam people on god knows what "support me" kicks starter sites. While people can sit and program a simple Banana game that realy isent a game.

Also i tryed many of the old games that where good when they got released when gaming wasent a every day thing.

But these games tryed to be a 2024 every day game and endet up being shit and trash !

Well if you are born today and dont know how good they where on release, then you dont know how shitty they are today.

Hmm, must be Friday night as the drunk posting has begun.

While not many new titles strike my fancy these days it's pretty clear some people are having a great time playing games.

I got a lovely house as a login bonus for ESO today, and did a whole bunch of treasure hunting and survey doing. A nice, relaxing time.

Even with how bad the gaming market seems to have become, there are still fun games out there. It may take a little while to search through all the junk to find a gem, but if you enjoy gaming then it's worth the wait.

It's also worth recognising your own part in this. If you've been playing games for many years (im at 30+ years of gaming), then there is a good chance that you'll have seen most forms of gameplay and design. Repetition leads to boredom, so it's totally understandable that you might find modern gaming boring. It's not that the games are actually bad (tho many are!), it's just they aren't innovative enough to hook a veteran.

and judging by what some of these companies are charging for games, they arent hurting either...New Star Wars game was listed at $110 and up for pre order packages.

A new hobby isn't a bad idea. To oversimplify the issue, you can say the general game equation is:

(rate of good games being released) - (your rate of game consumption) = accumulating backlog of quality games to keep you entertained

We generally can't control the first part, at least not directly. Games are produced at whatever rate they are produced and games that match your definition of good are some fraction of that.

What we do control almost entirely is how much time we give to this hobby, that is our rate of game consumption. If you find that you're blowing through the few good games that are available to you faster than new ones are produced, then adjusting how much time you dedicate to this hobby isn't a bad idea. Mix in some other hobbies and it will feel like there's always something good to play.

That's not a judgement on how much time you do spend or what you should do, but the reality that this is one part you do control, and you may find that adding another hobby will renew your love of this one as well.

Just looking at Darkest Dungeon makes me think of a turd game...sorry no offence.

I did play ESO once but oh boy how boring and old that game got.

I should not spend hours or days or even alot of time on seaching for a good game.

If the gaming market wants me to buy ther games, then they should make sure i notice ther products and not a freaking banana game on steam that i never asked for...

What I did for 10 years and the sad thing is the industry somehow got worse when I came back. I literally pulled my old PC out of the attic when cleaning one day and got back into it and that 2500K/680 PC could still play everything just fine on my old 1080p monitor.

Then I built a 7800X3D/4090 PC and I have barely used it, so that was a mistake.

The only good game I played which I could stand for more than 5 mins was Elden Ring.

Darkest Dungeon is absolutely excellent! I have 630 hours in it!

I have both Darkest Dungeon games and have hundreds of hours in them. I think you need to check the games you discarded without really checking them out properly.

Darkest Dungeon is absolutely excellent! I have 630 hours in it!

There is a lot of crap out there and a lot of crap graphics out there, but if you think DD is that bad I am not sure what will make you want to play. I live for open world AAA graphics (cutting it short) etc, but that was a good game.

Still haven't gotten to the second one but I intend to at some point. I've read it's a mash between DD1 and Slay the Spire (which I also loved). I have the opposite issue from the OP: too many great games, too little time, especially if you have obligations/hobbies outside gaming.

I love the updated graphics and don't mind the change in format but I had to uninstall Darkest Dungeon II as some of the design decisions as the drove me nuts.

I was traveling through the map and lost two members. All I wanted to do was make it to the tavern but I had to do these fights. I knew I couldn't win but the game makes you continue to fight. So I had to slowly watch the enemy chip away at the remaining two and essentially "wait out" the fight.

I wouldn't even have minded a "give up" button where I lost the remaining two members.

Unless there is one in which case I welcome the advice to where it is.

I agree with the OP, games have been going downhill big time. Its few and far between that a good game is released.

If you are a bottom feeder, then every steaming pile of .... is a delicacy. In todays world there are tons of POS delivered daily, so they are having a feast.

Entertainment in general has been on a fast decline. In the age where everyone has access, prices are soaring, yet still these companies are barely getting what they did when they had only 30% of the people connected.

My advice, is to switch genre's, try to find the very best in a different genre, then suck out all the fun of that game that you can.

I dont see anything on the horizon that tells me it will get any better, anytime soon.

I have been playing games on Commadore 64 and amiga that was way more entertaining then the barf that is out there today...I actualy think i will install an emulator and start to look for these games cuz these where good games !

Allright here is a ideea i have for ya all !

Im gona program a new Action 52 game pack thats gona be sold on steam for 10 $ cuz you got to pay tax also ! In this game pack you will find games where you are a potato with a timer above ur head..Thats the whole game !

Then there will be multiple like this just with a different object and timers.

I will also make some games that are a side scroller with the worst gfx i can come up with in paint..Its gona be puke green worlds with puke green game sprites.

Some games might not even work but hey..there will be 52 games to try out.

I will even start a kick starter site cuz you know...i need money and time to make this game pack. I hope you will back me up hahahaha!!

Most games are trash I found something that worked but the game I am on is on life support and its mainly just to have something to play not because its good, if you can't find something on the market you like to play you got four choices revert back to older games, read a book, play the waiting game or finally just quit gaming all together.

Those are really your only choices, me personally I'm waiting for brighter shores coming out this year.

Why would you ever play something "just to play something?" If it's not good do something, anything else.

Out of curiosity, what are you playing that's on life support?

I know Im gonna get a bunch of hate, but Star citizen is fun as hell for me. I have been playing all the old castlevania games too, idk why but I love those(1-4 only). Also the old Metroid games are on the docket.
