It is unplayable for me. I have almost constant screen stuttering and hitching. It was fine before the update ;P. I tried to roll the update back then the game wouldn't start. Bethesda could screw up an orgasm ;P.

Strange I had no hiccups. But did a clean install. And used the let Geforce experience set it up. Then manually fixed it so it could be bearable in ultrawide.
But then again. Maybe i just got lucky. ?

I am a scizo misanthrope. So one day I may go BANZAI on your post.
Have not yet though. Maybe there is hope?

If the patch on Monday doesn't fix it I will do a clean install and see if that fixes it.

I did a clean install no mods and I'm about 30 hours into a new playthrough. I have had a few crashes to desktop, but the game auto saves often enough I never lost significant progress. That's not saying CTDs are ok. Hopefully Monday improves stability.

Played about 5 hours on Steam deck so far without any issues.

There was a long reddit thread in either r/fo4 or r/fallout4builds about this and 99% of the people experiencing massive performance issues and crashing had a laundry list of mods installed.

Also found out in that thread that Fallout 4 modders love adding "unannounced" changes their mods make. It's quite common, if you dig into a mod, to find them making weapon adjustments, npc and companion changes, loot changes and so on. None of those changes are listed on the mob page describing what it does. Beware installing mods.

One example is a mod that changes how "Pre War Money" works, removing its cap value and its scrap output.

The problem is tracking down which mod made the change. Odd changes might not be discovered until dozens of hours into a save and fixing whatever they randomly decided to change can be hard.

Never seemed to have this problem with Skyrim or 7Days mods, but maybe I missed them. Mods are double-edged sword in my opinion.

The patch has dropped and a lot of mod users are reporting improved performance and much greater stability.

The bad news is that a persistent VATS bug is still being reported.

I never trust Bethesda. I didn't install the update and glad about it. Reason is I can't stand their games with out mods and I knew they would screw this up like everything they touch.
