Other than some network and U-Connect issues, I've heard mostly good stuff from friends and family. It's filling the casual run-n-gun arcade style hole left by bigger name IPs leaning into realism or e-sports.

Most of the complaints, those that seemed to annoy most, are because friends list social interaction is only through your U-Connect friends list, not your platform. So, if you have a friends on Steam, Xbox or PlayStation and want to play a match with any of them, you have to make the friends connection through U-Connect first.

The game can filter matches by input type (controller and KBM) and is cross platform, but you can't switch controllers in a match even if you enter a lobby that matches to both. Some of the UI is funky if you use a controller and want to input text as well due to the way it switches and does input restrictions.

The various factions have some very interesting perks and powers. All but one looked interesting to me, and they all seem viable for a strategy. It looks very nice in that Ubisoft way. I only wish there was a pve version of this against AI. Helldivers 2 is rad, and I think we need more games like that and some friendly competition for them. I could see a game like XDefiant making an excellent PvE coop, not just a PvP arcade shooter. Totally not surprised this is so popular.

I've installed it yesterday, played a few games and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't know a lot about it before playing, just that it was similar to CoD gunplaywise so I was surprised to see that it's a kind of Ubisoft-Allstars game with some of their franchises fighting against each other on maps taken from said franchises. Those maps are actually really well done and the moment to moment action is tight paired with some very good gunplay. The only thing I didn't like that much are the abilities. Unlike ValdemarJ I found them to be very uninspired and boring but I must admit that they are fitting to the factions and I'm glad they are not as important as for example they are in games like Overwatch. Imo the run and gun part is still more important than the abilities which I like so far. Oh and prices in the cash shop are beyond good and evil. I wont spend a single cent with prices like that, completely bonkers.

Only five reviews as yet but a score of 68 on MC is not promising.

XDefiant is now up to 7.6 million players with 700,000 concurrent.

Ubisoft was expecting 5 million players in the first month.

    Off to a great start.

It's on Xbox and PlayStation too. You still need UConnect, but it shows up in their stores. On PC I guess it's Ubi Launcher only, which surprised me because I thought it was on Steam too.

I don't think the games that bad but the MC score was pause for thought and shows just how many players will jump into a game just because its there and has launched. I would never suggest gamers make their mind up on the basis of five reviews anyway, that would be daft.

EDIT looking at a more respectable 70 now, but I would expect more than that to be interested myself.
