The game has decided on a different universe concept which at initial glance seems interesting and yet keeps the strengths of the original writing. However, this means they can head of in any direction they like and use the "new universe/multiverse" excuse we have so often seen. So this could go either way in that regard for me.
I think a safer option would have been to do a storyline in the same universe but decades or centuries prior to the events of the books/movies. That would allow them to do whatever they want without running roughshod over the lore. Oh well far too late now. I guess we'll see how it goes. I just want to fly around in an ornithopter. I've been fascinated by the dragonfly interpretation of them since the remake of the original film. I think they're beautiful even if they're not exactly true to the books.
Don't care how good the story or trailer is. The talk I have heard from the devs about game mechanics scare the sheeeet out of me. Dehydration, heatstroke and the like....if this turns into another eating/drinking Sim pretty sure it will fail.
My concern is, if we can't create our own servers, and are forced into a PvP world, is that it's going to be a shit show of hackers and cheaters. I'm not into PvP; but if there is going to be such a world, it needs to be fair. I prefer PvE with PvP zones or flags or events.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
