I agree, it wouldn't be reasonable to just hand out free time like that and I didn't expect they would. I'm more pointing out the most likely unintentionally misleading headline.

You may not have noticed, but the headlines on the articles are always overly long, I assume for search engine clicks. Adding clarification here would make it go to what three lines, so you can understand why its simplified. Clicks triumph over clarification I am afraid.

Non-subscribers were of course inconvenienced and I doubt any apology made excluded them. Compensation for paid time lost or compromised of course doesn't apply to those that do not pay for game access, but that is separate from the apology itself.
