    They are based  in a country Blizzard has no way of closing them nor suing them. Blizzard sent people to the Nostalrius people's homes I heard. The server was in France so it was easy for Blizzard to get to them. I think the legal vernacular is sweet fuck all in Turtle's case..

    They cannot touch them because the servers are in Russia and Russian operators. Nostalrius were in France.

    It's only of course to the extent the laws of the nation the sever is located in allows. Not every part of the world has laws that would accommodate Blizzard's claims.

    That looks like a worse visual than uncharted waters when they first discovered what lighting could do to add depth to the experience. The graphics are still awful lol. The colors are amazingly better though, so there's only that.  :|

    That's because the people running it were:

    1) Somewhere where they could be prosecuted
    2) Didn't want to piss off Blizzard

    These devs live in Russia and don't care about that.  If a server is taken down they'll move it to a different country.

    The second is 70s.  That's Ashton's character and, besides, I recognize the angle and the cut 70s liked to use. It's very memorable.

    To some on these forums, Russian Spyware would seem to be a challenging death penalty. Nothing like trying to 8man, quest, and die to mobs and your Russian Enemies you invited into your 8man. Then try to run undetected through Russian Spyware back to his group to set him up to die. I kind of miss 2005.

    I don't save anything on my computers. The Russians can have it.

    They can't triangulate your location and leak it to the dark web? Though, I dont think they would unless you started talking about their leader etc. I simply dont support anything Russian because of the war they started, but that's just me. And by that logic I dont support anything Chinese given that they are helping Russia, but again that's just me.

    I'd be less worried about the software spying on me than cryptojacking (using your hardware to mind cryptocurrencies and sending the results to someone else) or making it part of a botnet that takes part in DDOS attacks or other such things.

    Remember, if you're not paying for a product, then you are the product.  Hijacking your computer to use it for various nefarious things is one way for you to be the product.   That's not specific to Russia but true of any dodgy executables that you run.
