Sounds like an awesome program! Good luck to you!
Played these MMORPG's:
AC1/AC2/AO/DAoC/EQ/ATITD/FFXI/UO
Beta'd: RYL/SWG/E&B
Sounds like a fun class/program. I've taken/will be taking computer science related courses myself. Good stuff Wish there were some game related courses at my college though.

You should grab the free Unreal UDK or Unity or GODOT there are several and mess around with it so you can learn the basics of how the whole idea comes together. There are other programs as well that gaming uses like Blender. You have to do some homework and then at least familiarize yourself with all the programs so you'll have a better understanding of what your learning.
If you just walk in blind, everything is going to fly over your head,it will be very difficult.IMO if your program is too easy to understand they are likely not preparing you well enough to get into the field.
Basically you needed to already have a long time interest in the field and not just "i like gaming,so this would be cool".

Sounds like a job that you'll be looking for work every two years. Be asked to move across the country every time you find work and relocating your family. Like the location or not, you will go where they tell you.
UNSTABLE pay checks if you get paid at all....... Do you know how much health care is if you have to pay out of pocket, every job you will have to re-evaluate it. Most will not provide.
LONG HOURS that are possibly un-paid, with the promise of hitting it big that may never come. Asked to buy your own equipment if work at home in an ever-changing technology.
COMPETITION in a fierce market filled with un-fair hiring no matter how well you excel. You better get established quickly and maintain it forever, much like pro sports....... You will be walking into back fill positions where people are leaving do to bad working conditions.
STRESS every time your out of work, your reputation will diminish deeper no matter how good you are. If jumping from state to state (if in the USA), you may not be able to clam state benefits.
BAD IDEA !!!

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
It is worse than simple crowd funding of games,i am extremely suspicious of EVERY venture seeking money from innocent...possibly victims.Example a recent death on the internet was announced, unless people know for FACT i am suspicious of GO FUNDING ventures especially since this person is an internet dude that nobody really knows where he resides or hangs out as he moves around.
There was also a factual case where a hollywood actress from one of the sitcoms ran some go funding venture claiming she was going to bring back the sitcom but somebody found out a year later the money was just to put her daughter through a private school.
Point being you cannot ,keyword>.NOT trust anyone when comes to money. There is even a decent chance that game ou are funding is using STOLEN code, this happens more often than you might think.I know of several that were caught, but of course there will be many more not caught.
Bottom line to stay on topic,i do NOT think gaming is a good venture to get in to unless yo uare open to the idea of using your computer skills to branch into other less related ventures like graphic arts, networking, maybe even working on computers in a Hospital setting etc etc.My point is that you need to be open to MORE than just gaming or i think you will end up struggling badly.

100%. To bad the young can't see anything past starting pay of Amazon that is $18 and hour where trades start apprentices a few bucks less. 18 now and 18 in 4 years, or 12-15 now and 50 in 4 years.
Oh wait, never mind the school system has systematically told children a 4 year degree will yield you great results, LMFAO.
