Despite the ridiculous softporn characters, it is the best looter shooter on the market right now with an insanely dedicated dev team that does all the right things.
(Can't wait for Nexon to show their true colours and ruin it all, a year down the road)

It's a surprisingly good game and I had my fun with it but calling it the best looter shooter while Warframe exist seems a bit like a stretch ;-)

Well, Warframe clearly is the better overall game, with a 11 years headstart, stronger art direction etc. I love it to pieces.
But at this stage, I can hardly call it a looter shooter. It's a racing game where you press a few buttons to obliterate entire maps while racing to the finish line or next objective against your 3 teammates. There is no gunplay, because guns only slow you down.
When I play a looter shooter, I want to use my guns. Aim, point, shoot. The Warframe 1999 content island will hopefully provide that for a while (albeit not for the entire game). But until then, TFD takes the Looter SHOOTER cake for me.
That aside, the fact that you can buy/trade every single weapon/module for real money in Warframe always hampered my motivation to grind them out. Whereas in TFD you can only buy formas, poatoes and the "warframes" - there is no alternative way to getting the other items (mods, weapons, external components), so I am forced to work for them, which ultimately makes the game much more fun to me.
I'll enjoy it while it lasts, because Nexon sure as hell will either add trading to the game or offer more items for purchase with real money over time. Same goes for the shooting: I am sure power creep will make weapons as useless in TFD as they are now in Warframe. We're actually already heading into that direction with builds like the Lepic burst build.
Last but not least, I find the loot in TFD more interesting and rewarding than in Warframe, BUT that might well be because I played Warframe for 5K+ hours and there is very little left to achieve for me. So this last point might not stand the test of time, because I am sure at some point I will feel the same about potatoes and formas in TFD.

Everything you mentioned + maybe the fact that it's a fresh new exciting game after 5k hours in Warframe and it's still a bit like a honeymoon phase
I get the shooting part but since I only have 270h in Warframe I can still use my weapons fine and I must say that I like the gunplay in Warframe a bit more. In TFD it very often feels a bit laggy, unprecise and I'm often out of bullets for my weapon of choice and have to switch to the other two quite often.
Yeah if you play Bunny you already don't need your weapons and I'm sure there will be a lot more builds in the future that'll make guns useless. Time will tell.
Right now I'm catching up on the storyline of Warframe to be ready when 1999 drops which I'm extremely hyped about!
Yeah my problem with Warframe is that I don't have time to grind grind grind stuff out. 5k hours? I doubt there's a video game in the history of videogames where I have accumulated anywhere near that number of hours. Biggest hours I get in a game is 600-700 hours. I look at 5k hours and think I could have earned another degree in that time or learned a foreign language or how to play a musical instrument or worked a part time job and have something more than a character with gear in a video game to show for it. I just can't do it. So what does that mean for me and Warframe? It means if I want to be competitive I have to open my wallet WIDE. You start pricing out how much real money it takes to buy enough frames and weapons to get you leveled up to a point you can actually equip top tier mods to be decent and the price tag is very very large. That's before you go buy the platinum you'll need to RMT said mods from someone. It will be thousands of dollars easily. I'm not doing that either, so I just don't play. Plenty of other games out that don't have such ridiculous expectations of their players. Maybe this game is one for now but FTP always devolves into the choice between thousands of hours or dollars. It's why I despise FTP monetization. I take option C - none of the above.
When a skin makes your stronger and it's in the game shop but it'll take about 70$ to purchase, it's a hard pass. This game is a hard pass. Play something better.
Yeah I do think TFD has a good game in its shell somewhere, its direction isn't very exciting. It has some unique aspects to it I hope they lean into more, but thats just a personal thing. I dont want to play Destiny but third person. I dont want another warframe progression. I want something more new, and TFD has some of that but then surrounds itself with all its mimicry.
That said though, the game itself is fun enough for a f2p. The progression feels awful and needs some QOL. The cash shop is eye watering and I cant imagine it getting better. We'll see what direction they steer into I guess.

You don't have to buy the skin. It is the same as buying something in warframe. You can grind out the ultimates just like all the others. It is a time vs want thing.
I have almost all the characters now. Did step away for a week or two now though. Decided I wanted to wait a bit to not get totally burned out on it as it is a fun game.
The only down side for me is grinding out materials to upgrade, not parts but the currency you need can't remember the name off the top of my head. That part does get very, very repetitive cause the best way to do it is hop on bunny and run circles which gets boring really, really fast after a while.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

People eat it up because there are titties. That's just how it is in gaming at the moment.
It'll die out in a month or so, just like the rest of 'em.

Tip: upgrade your important modules like HP and defense or you will start to struggle against harder enemies.
