Sadly, they took the Planetside 2 IP and are slowly letting it die...

It's a shame they aren't capable of making a new game. They are caretakers of games developed by other developers. Their games are quite old and dated. They release updates or 'expansions' once a year but their glory days are well behind them.

I'd give anything for EQ3 - if made properly. Pantheon isn't it.

Daybreak is the worst game company out there. They never add anything worth while and let their purchased IP die of slowly, the worst kind of death. fuck you daybreak I will never give you any of my money

I dont believe they have the power to do eq3 justice
It would only be the same in the name

What does "doing it justice" even mean in a practical sense? What is the expectation they have to deliver? What if "doing it justice" means different, incompatible, things to different groups?

This is basically why Valve has hinted it will never do Half-Life 3. I think it's why fans got WoW Classic instead of WoW 2.

Riot is reportedly trying to make an MMO. What are the expectations on them in order to deliver something they can justify continued support for? I think 10 different people will answer that question 10 different ways and that's making it hard to justify the effort and expense of new titles.

The real deal costs easily $100M+ to make in modern economics. We could probably argue that figure down some, but the point is that it takes a huge amount of money. Cheap loans are gone for a while, so justifying that risk is even harder. If Riot can't pull it off, then who can and how?

Absolutely. Players’ expectations are not only extremely high but various groups of players focus on different aspects of a game that they think are most important.

Not only that but expectations for the games have changed over time. Probably why we won’t get a Lineage 3 with as punishing grind as Lineage 2.

I’m not sure what a “proper EverQuest 3 would be but EverQuest Next was a bit of a shock when they first revealed game play.
