The developers at Ramen VR have announced that three existing Shards in Zenith will no longer be online, as the team is taking down any that are unused or not as populated as the others.

Anyway, bottom line is until the hardware is there, the games won't be.
People say all sorts of things are safe until it wasn't then it is revealed that studies were hidden away and kept away to allow something to be sold. You can say I am an idiot with a tinfoil hat but until this device is as comfortable as my spectacles I ain't using it longer than 5 minutes. What more more for hours and hours when I play a game like I usually do.
I am sure I am not the only one with concerns and the manufacturers of the devices have failed to reassure me. It's a failure.
That's why I said that the performance of the VR hardware needs to dramatically increase. What causes the motion sickness is any sort of latency between the movement of your head and what's rendered on the screen. If you turn your head and the rendering of your point of view changing lags behind at all that will for sure induce motion sickness in people that are susceptible to it. That's why you need a minimum of 90 fps but preferably 120 fps, and that's minimum not average. You simply cannot drop below that level and not risk. Now combine that with the resolutions some of these headsets are going for and you can appreciate the herculean task your PC has before it. The vive pro 2 has 4896 x 2448 resolution PER EYE. That's greater than 4k resolution PER EYE, and you're asking your PC to render 4k resolution x 2 at 90 MIMINUM frames per second. There's literally not a PC on the planet that can do that. The RTX 4090 can't even come close. Go look at any RTX 4090 4k benchmark across games and you will see that there are many games like Cyberpunk 2077 that it struggles to maintain over 80 fps and that's for 1 monitor running 4k, not two. Keep in mind those benchmark numbers are AVERAGE numbers not minimum, so it will have dips probably under 60fps at times. That's all fine when you're sitting down looking at a monitor on your desk, but in a VR HMD that will not fly.
Let's not forget price. The Vive Pro 2 headset by itself without all the accessories you need costs $800. The full kit which is what you actually need is $1200 to get the IR trackers and controllers that go with it. Now add on top of that a machine with a $1800 video card and a PC that can actually run it. $3500 PC minimum we're talking plus the $1200 VR kit, so $4700-5000 dollars and it can't even run 4k in both eyes at 90 fps minimum.
We're still WAY WAY WAY out of reach of the average gamer and purely in enthusiast territory. Game companies are not going to spend AAA level money to sell a game to the 10k enthusiasts out there that are willing to pay that much just to experience VR on a sub par rig.
That's the problem.
