I am a big fan of Dr. Who... Minus the last doctor in classic and the last couple of doctors in nuwho. It's a hard concept to put into MMO form I think. Can be done for sure. But we're talking time travel and timelines. A lot of lore and a lot of possibilities. Would have to be a publisher with some money. Also, one of those games that would be better to start of kind of small but well developed and add new planets or timelines in expansions. This way they get the core right and build.

The BBC owns the IP and has no interest in making video games, that's why there are so few. Not a good time to make a new game either as viewing figures are falling.

In Canada in the late 70's / Early 80's, long before the internet or streaming, we watched it on USA's PBS stations.

It was always 1-2 years behind what season they were watching in the United Kingdom, which thanks to the availability of information would be impossible today.

Having seen them all i think Tom Baker was my favourite classic Doctor. I enjoyed the reboot series but for whatever reason when they went with Peter Capaldi he never really clicked with me and i rapidly lost interest and never returned.

A game with this IP has a lot it could work with but as others have said it would require some deep pockets and interest from the BBC who get the majority of their money from a compulsory license fee to most households so not sure they have much incentive.

The BBC would also consider video games lowbrow, they can be quite snooty. They have had a couple of web browser games made, but that's it.

There was also a table top RPG that came out but it didn't end out well supported, at least so far as locally. Maybe it had more success overseas. After doing a google search it turns out there was more than one. The one I knew of was put out by FASA in 1985. There is a more recent one from Cubicle 7 in 2009 that I was unaware of.
