Looking for a lost game

SectoidzorSectoidzor Member UncommonPosts: 9

Hello!

Around 2005 something I played a 2D MMORPG for a few days. It was free and looked sort of Tibia vs Maple Story- ish.

I have been looking everywhere for it but I cant remember the name.

I remember that you fought slimes in the beginning. Blue, red and green slimes and then you fought ants. You could go down in the Ant tunnel early in the game. There was also a village where you could sell stuff.

The items and armor that you equipped were visible on the character and the game itself looked cartoonish.

Please! Help me find this game again.

That sounds a lot like ROSE Online.  I remember checking out the beta and it reminded me a little of those MMOs and a little of Ragnarok Online.  I think you did start with slimes, and ant-like creatures.

Here's the MMORPG.com link to the game:

Unfortunatley its not rose online. The game wasnt in 3D.

Think Maple Story graphics but in a Zelda SNES perspective.

Hmm, yeah, I think because the 3-D still seemed a bit 2-dimensional to me I was thinking of it as a 2-D game.  It came out in 2005, so figured it might be the one.

Was it new as of 2005?

I dont really know. Let me think..

I am certain I played it 2004-2006 but I dont know if it came out then or earlier.

First you fought green slimes who could take 1 hit. Then  you fought red slimes who could take 2 hits and then you fought blue slimes who could take lots of hits. They all dropped some kind of goo which you could sell.

I dont remember if there was quests but after a while of slime killing you came to Ants. There were ants and stronger ant soldiers.

I need to see this game once again SO BAD.

Trickster Online possibly? Comes to mind when I read your description, however I'm not sure if it was even out in 2005 lol

That sounds a lot like Ragnarok Online.  PoruPorings, or whatever they were called, and a rare named one would drop a hat that looked just like the slime monster itself.

It was not Trickster nor Ragnarok Online, I played those games also later on :P

I have googled every keyword I remember, I find nothing. Even if the game was cancelled, there must be something out there. I think the game had one single name much like Daimonin and Furcadia.

No unfortunatley no. This game was more childish.

i would say its RO. as it sounds alot like it with the slimes. as well RO was a 2d/2.5D game as i recall.

i played it years ago on a privately owned server so cant really say if there are any legal servers left given its age.

most i run across for RO now are privately hosted ones which arent always ... enjoyable to put it bluntly.

do you recall what some of the classes might have been? or any thing that might narrow it down? should it be something other then RO?

  • SectoidzorSectoidzor Member UncommonPosts: 9

I think that there were only like 3 swords in the shop and like 3 different armors, leather and chain mail.

  • SectoidzorSectoidzor Member UncommonPosts: 9

Nah it wasnt RO. I played RO one year later.

And as I think of it, I cant remember I choose class. Dont think there were any. You just got thrown in the village and went out to kill slimes. LOL

If you check the Game List tab, then click "Date", it can re-organize by year published.  That might help a bit.  There's another one that came out about the same time called "Dofus", but that's been plastered on this site as a banner ad very recently, so it probably doesn't fall under the category of "lost".

Sounds like WonderKing. That's the first game I think of when I think of a maplestory clone.

It was definitely Ragnarok Online. You started out as a novice (no class) and the game would end up sending you to different start points depending on which class you were interested in. You weren't given the class right away so you usually had to do some kind of initiation quest first. It could've easily been one of the starter areas you just dont remember. The experience has changed over the years with the tutorial island thing when you start up and mercenaries etc, but its to be expected for a game 20+ years old now.

Or Ghost online? Incredibly similar to Maplestory, I can't remember the class structure though.

If the ants were grey I know the game you're talking about but don't know the name of it. It had a small community and a stealing skill and blue broadcast text. If not then it sounds similar to that.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
