Yeah well downloads of a free to play game isn't indicative of much other than people will try stuff for free. Shocker. Let's see where their concurrent player count is 6 months in.
The game is honestly well done for a F2P title, they could of gotten away with selling it but keeping it F2P keeps players involved without an introductory cost. They are correct in saying there is no P2W, mainly just Pay2LookCool at this point even though I like the free armors better so far than what you can buy.
They did introduce Lootboxes (cosmetic) which I still think is predatory but seems to be allowed in the current climate of things.
If they keep everything cosmetic, I don't really see a problem.
Not to sure how they are going to go with the seasons idea.
Restarting again on a new scenario and server didn't sound that bad given what you were allowed to carry over between seasons. Now however that have said that there is a couple month lag between the current PVE season end and the start of a new one.
The only thing on offer for PVE players is to continue for an additional month on the current server before it is shut down, play on eternaland or go to the new PvP season. Personally I am going to go play something else as my build is for PVE and I am uninterested in PvP.
Eternaland seems to be for those that like to build and decorate. Sadly not one of my interest nor am I good at it.
The way they are implementing seasons is a deal breaker for me. Its all built around FOMO and I just do not think the game is worth the time investment that must be repeated every season like a hamster on a wheel. Wish it was something other than seasons - its a great free to play game.
Once Human made me realize that a gacha game with "fair" systems, where the gacha currency is time gated instead of purchased, is still a gacha game and I still hate it
May not be pay-to-win, but it's sure as hell gamble-to-lose now. Throw money at our flaming motorcycle because like everything else we basically ripped off from every other game we have a wannabe Ghost Rider to go with the wannabe $25 Catwoman costume, but ol' Ghost Rider will cost you $400 by the time you're lucky enough to get it.
I may hate pay-to-win, but I flat out despise predatory purchases.

yea i agree , they take sht from every game , they took "pals" from palworld but whatever , if it works for them so be it , i find that again for pvp if you dont follow the meta you are screwed so i am good on that game , not worth the time when you HAVE to follow a certain build for the whole war hive at end game or YOU WILL LOSE
Yeah well downloads of a free to play game isn't indicative of much other than people will try stuff for free. Shocker. Let's see where their concurrent player count is 6 months in.
It's already doing much better than First Descendant in ccu peak. Once Human is still retaining 140k+ players after 6 weeks. While First Descendant was released a week earlier, it has fallen to 60k+ players ccu nowadays.
The chart is not falling sharply unlike most other MP games, which means that either people are staying or there are enough new players joining regularly.
Seems they have changed there mind and a Manibus Hard PvE scenario will be released around 20 August. Not many sign ups, I guess, for the PvP season.
Single server only for each region and they seem to have fairly low server player caps in my experience. Going to be interesting to see the demand. Not sure what my hive mates will decide to do.

10+ million downloads and 140k retained? that doesnt sound like a very good percentage.
Why are you all complaining, its free and its a pretty fun well made game. Just log in and play it for a month or whatever then uninstall it like very other mmo you have tried in last few years and move on.

The First Descendant is in something of an already crowded space, so I imagine many that tried it were already playing something else within the genre, then decided to go back to the game they already had a fair bit of investment in. Plus it is being run by Nexon, which many see as a big negative.
Once Human although is in a less crowded space near as I can tell, and I saw more people hyping it up, than The First Descendant, so likely feels fresher to people, and the honeymoon phase will likely take a while to get over. Waiting some months, or seasons to see how well it fairs in the long term would be needed, although we can reasonably expect that as is the norm, some months from now there will be stories of it having lost some 90% of it's at launch concurrent player counts.

I might pay $25 for a costume I really want but I won't pay a dime if I'm expected to gamble for it.

I fall along the same ideology. I will buy a $100 cosmetic to support a game I play that is giving me decent amount of playtime. Don't expect me to do loot boxes at all though. I will not spend a single dime on these loot boxes. It's a little different when it is a playable character in a gacha but not cosmetics.

Playing at the same time is not the same as active players.
I refuse to gamble for cosmetics. I'm already gambling to upgrade gear which is something I despise but currently most games have it so nowhere to run but for supporting a game I will not do so if you make me gamble for it. I get what I paid for or go fly kites.
It's a solid, VERY addictive game. The more I play it the more I like it. I'm about 50 hours in and I haven't spent a dime. I honestly forget the game is F2P because of how not in your face it is about it. I will support the devs though when something in the store strikes my fancy.

This is a good, fun survival game with some looter shooter elements. I'm really enjoying it the first time through.
My biggest beef is (unlike Fallout 76) I *think* player's bases stay up when the player is offline. The starter area was very crowded with little bases everywhere.
