Last night, Bandai Namco Online and Amazon Games announced Blue Protocol will be shutting down and its global release was canceled. Today, in a statement to MMORPG.com, we've learned that Amazon's developers working on the release will avoid layoffs, and instead be moved to other projects.

    Might as well just launch the game in the west if you're gonna keep the people on, unless the LoTR doesn't even have a team yet, otherwise you're just paying people for nothing.

    It's not the devs fault the game tanked. That's leadership. The EIEIO's, the producers, the VP of marketing who probably drove the monetization which drove a lot of the game design. The developers just built what they were told to build.

    Granted I know a lot of people in gaming use the term "developers" to mean "anyone who works at a game studio" in spite of that not being the professional definition of the word. Artist are not developers, QA are not developers, executives are not developers, the janitor is not a developer. The people slinging code are developers.

    As long as their skills are sharp they can be easily transitioned to another team.

    Amateur team managed to translate game like archeage or black desert in a few month, at least enough to be playable, but big devs need years to do that, and also add function that nobody asked for ....
