Due to insolvency in Bandai Namico Online, the parent company Bandai, has decided to shut everything down from that studio. This includes Blue Protocol. The game will offically shut down Jan. 18th, 2025.

Eh I was kind of interested in this one.....will scratch it off the list I guess since their super p2w put everything behind a paywall and gacha failed.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

New World in tatters, Lost Ark's population plummeted this summer, Throne and Liberty not looking like a major hit, and now this.

I think something is big time going on behind the scenes at AGS.

I don't think AGS has anything to do with this, this is on bandai online itself and from what I quickly read the game went from a mmo to very heavily paywalled and gacha on gacha mobile like or somesuch so....not AGS fault really if its failed before ever coming to the west or getting in AGS hands.

Yea, this isn't really Amazon's fault. This is stricly Bandai, for releasing a bad game. Then making it P2W to try and get the money back.

Not saying its Amazon's fault. I am saying this  is not good for AGS and their portfolio of games. This was to be a major WIN for them so now all they have is a console New World, a Throne and LIberty that is iffy at best, and a LOTR MMO that still has no "hook". Not placing blame, looking at worry and concern.

What this shows is AGS is not good at picking a winner, Lost Ark is the closest I think they have got. These days you expect multiplayer games to take a nose dive unless they are exceptional it is just a matter of when. Obviously AGS gets paid regardless, but they either don't have the business sense to realise how important reputation is or more likely don't have the gaming sense to pick a winner.

I think many game companies have become intoxicated with the idea that we are endless fonts of cash that we will spend unwisely and wantonly at any game. That is why games have become so very greedy and it is getting tiresome.

Once players if ever become more circumspect these practices will cut back because if they are going to spend money and close down before they make any of it back it will be more than likely that they tone down their greed.

Of course the gamers are the principal architects of this proliferation but I was actually surprised to learn Undecember no longer requires one to pay for a loot pet monthly. When games begin to lose players they relax their requirements but in this age of streamers and the chase for the new game that creates a feeding frenzy among the fans of genre you cannot afford to go wrong out of the gate. You're doomed to fail fast.

However really good games are forgiven too easily and allowed a far more greater leeway for gacha and other monetization which also need to stop. Ultimately the power is in our hands but we the consumer seldom act in our own interests. The writing may be on the wall if only we bothered to read it.

We need more people getting banned.

Bandai Namco made the right decision to put Blue Protocol out of it's misery, and MMORPG should follow their example.

Because I hate you all and the MMORPG staff have let this message board rot and fester.

So, now instead of moderating homophobia and racism they are seemingly banning people at random.

And when this shambling corpse of a message board is finally put to death, like Blue Protocol come January (see, still on topic), only @Scot will mourn it's passing.

Calm down, do you really think the staff would ban people at random? I advise posters to always think before they post but I do realise you can sometimes be taken up in the moment. No site should have to tell posters why people were banned, they could choose to explain but then we could be into rounds of recrimination, we do have to have some trust here.
