This patch has been a complete disaster. They drop a major patch, which had already been plagued with bugs in testing for the last three months, on a Friday and, surprise, it breaks everything.

Cargo missions don't work, freight elevators don't work, can't call ships up into your hangar, can't even access the hangar in some case, they turned the beautiful space background into a green soup which looks terrible now and server performance is so bad that they've actually posted a notice on the launcher and on their status page warning you not to play their game.

To cap it off, some of the anti-social players CIG is intent on attracting to this game (don't bother with this game if you're thinking it has viable PVE. The PVE is only there to provide fodder for the pirates) are using exploits to drop massive shipping containers (which can't be moved) in front of elevator doors and entrances so you can't even leave spaceports.

*golf clap* well done once again CIG *golf clap*

I thought the game had like a thousand over people developing it. Still so bad after all these years.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.

Someone on their forums posts a really negative interaction they had with Chris Roberts recently at a shop which a moderator deleted presumably because it painted him in a very bad light.

But it got me thinking and I had a look at the reviews of CIG left at glassdoor.com by current and former employees, and...well, it explains a WHOLE lot:

    https://www.glassdoor.com.hk/Reviews/Cloud-Imperium-Games-chris-roberts-Reviews-EI_IE776546.0,20_KH21,34.htm

I'm surprised more game journalists aren't digging into this company more.

I wish more PvP game developers would put a dozen jerks on staff as 'testers' with the directive to 'go be the biggest asshole you can be in this game and report back to us'.

Get all their 'innovation game play loops' fixed, then release to general public.

Can you trust a site where people say they are employees and post? It is like a notice board for anyone with some grief to grind.

I think it is tied to cheating too. It's the same mentality. These people get their kicks by doing things to others, or by "getting it over" on them. Cheaters want to win, but I think a lot of them have fun thinking of how they duped the other players, there is a certain satisfaction of beating others by cheating.

This same negative satisfaction comes from blocking the doors of someone's hangar. "Look what I can do to you nyah nyah nyah". If there is a way griefers can ruin the game for others, they will find it and do it.

Sounds like the game has regressed to the point of being a parody. I'm impressed the OP still tries to play it. In spite of this game being the game I've spent more money on than any other game, I've given up on it and any hope of a refund. At some point you cut your losses and move on. That's where I'm at with SC. Good job, Roberts, you got me. I hope you choke on the cash.

Looking at EVE, then yes - you will be massacred if you encounter pirates.

Which is why they should allow players agency. No pvp, lower rewards or high stakes missions

Idiots pushed out a broken patch. Slapped a promo online, some automated twitter messages and a new ship sale. Spaghetti coding can not handle any updates. Its so fragile no solid game core. Every update different stuff breaks. 12 years and still rubber banding strong. And of course 4.0 delayed no surprises there. Welcome to Star Citizen... well they removed the stars and blackness in the last patch. So.. its just Citizen now.

Given how badly speaking out about your old employer can be to your future prospects, there's no place else someone can post that sort of thing.

If you want, you can go back to the David Jennison letter, a rare public denouncement of management in the early days of Star Citizen.  Since this sort of thing was exactly what Roberts did at Origin Systems, there's every reason to think he's still doing it now.

Most of us use phones produced with some degree of slave labor.
Let's stop pretending we actually care about the work conditions at Star Citizen.

    Facepalm.

From all the trolls out there, you came up with this shit ? Based on your .. ideology, well .. not a single voting , feedback, etc site out there is legit, because some people MIGHT lie or post shits for the love of .. posting shits.

Imagine me, giving my review about a game on this site, and then you come up and deny my review under "..but you might have no played it!! PROVE IT!" . Well.. I don't want to.

    Simple right?

I agree with this due to the fact anyone talented enough to work at CIG is talented enough to work anywhere including building business software like I do which isn't nearly as sexy or fun as game development but pays better and has a lot less pressure and overtime in general. Anyone who works at CIG does so voluntarily, and if the work conditions are shit they are shit because the employees allow them to be shit. I promise if the entire dev division walked out and quit things would change both drastically and immediately. I've literally lead a walk out at a company due to unending 60+ hour weeks and I didn't need to be in a union to do it. They hired me back as a contractor and I haven't worked an hour of overtime since. Having a spine and confidence in your abilities is a good thing.

I am happy to go with public announcements and yes we can expect someone to behave now like they did before, but that is not the same as believing everything on there from unverified sources.

My ideology? I am applying a basic principal of the internet, "don't take everything at face value." Are you saying you believe everything on such sites because they took the time to post? Surely not?

Finally there is a very big difference between a post on there and you doing a review, I know you from posting on here and I consider you a good if sometimes overly passionate poster. :)

Whereas I do not know who posted on there from Adam, so I think it is wise to take it with a pinch of salt.

This was a big update and bugs were expected. I am happy they are fleshing out the cargo gameplay loop, its taken a long time but once its working properly its really going to add a ton to the SC universe.

Is it released yet? I feel it's been in development since I was a teenager.
