It's not possible for preorders to exceed demand. Preorders literally are demand and can't exceed itself. They can exceed server capacity. Pretty sure that's the intent here.

I will say they should be cautious about ramping up too much hardware because once the locust swarm of early adopters comes and goes they may find themselves with an empty wasteland of servers acting as space heaters. Ask the New World team.

Anyway, sounds like a good problem to have. More players than capacity is much better than little to no interest. I wish them luck but I'm out on the open world PvP bit. Otherwise looks like a cool game.

Small studio. I'm sure they have a game plan for how they can host the number of gamers they expected to get. If it's way outside their game plan. Pausing sales till they know they can give a quality experience. It's not a bad idea.

Yep, never said it was a bad idea. I was primarily calling out the poor writing skills of the author who wrote "Preorders exceed demand" which is both nonsensical and literally impossible. Preorders cannot exceed demand because preorder are a measure of demand. It is what it is. Some time with a dictionary would be helpful.

    From websters.com:

    preorder
    verb
    pre·or·der ˌprē-ˈȯr-dər
    variants or pre-order
preordered or pre-ordered; preordering or pre-ordering
    transitive + intransitive

: to order (something) in advance : to request to purchase (something) before it is available for sale

    demand
    noun
    de·mand di-ˈmand -ˈmänd, dē-

    3
    a
economics : willingness and ability to purchase a commodity or service
    b
: the quantity of a commodity or service wanted at a specified price and time
    </blockquote

Selling a game is more then giving someone access to the game. The wording maybe true if they don't have the servers to host more sales.

Site is too buggy to quote the other post ... in any case ... It should have been "pre-orders exceed expectations" or something similar.

which company will limit sales...its all cloud servers and more paying customers is better.. not sure why any business company will want to limit funds during development when funds are the bloodline to a finished product... something is fishy going on here!!!

Nothing fishy, just building up player FOMO a bit.
