Interesting. I wonder how this affects new studios that opt to go straight to AI and not hire the actors in the first place? My guess is it doesn't. I mean who's going to go on strike? The people you never hired? I hope for the best for the actors but I fear that in the end, AI is going to win this war and put a lot of people out of work.

Progress does come without growing pains. I hope it finds an equilibrium at some point. I also think in some ways you will always need that human touch.

    .......

So does this mean they can go back to work? or are projects still stuck in limbo atm? Because my understanding that until a deal is struck, actors have been instructed not to work on any projects.

Also i still find it pretty odd that AI is being allowed to dictate all of this without consequence to the companies who stand to make a killing from all of this in the end.

80 game studios apparently like being left behind.

AI isn't going to affect the actual talented artists . AI simply means no longer needing to hire sub-tier artists to supplement the creme dela creme artists. One superb artist with AI can do the job of a hundred Deviant Art rejects. And those sub-tier, DA rejects are the ones complaining about AI threatening their livelihood.

While North America and the EU are busy with the dictatorial approach to AI the rest of the world, which doesn't live on progressive socialist cucu land where pink unicorns puke rainbows, will keep investing and developing and getting further ahead.

As a consumer I will get the best products anyway but dang they are for a hard landing cause profits (and prosperity) will go to those other areas of the world that still have a resemblance of free enterprise, trade and capitalism.

I predict that Silicon Valley will be a cheap ass place to buy a home by 2050.

It will fracture.  There will some companies that won't sign and if they have success with AI, some of those companies will want to take advantage.  Plus, if they see that smaller companies are able to produce high quality games with the discount of having used AI, some will want to take advantage.  Cost pressures, time pressures, and perhaps quality pressures for some will be too much.  If you ask me, it's like 'pissing in the wind'
