Yeah it boils down to risk and reward like any publisher. My guess is that the reason for the hands off approach is they're probably not going to invest as much money as a more hands on publisher would. Either that or they're going to cherry pick gems in the rough that just need to get across the finish line in exchange for a 50% cut in the profits. If not those strategies then I suppose they could be looking to fail in a spectacular fashion. The gaming industry gives plenty of opportunity to do that!

I can imagine a lot of indie games stall out when they get to the parts that Poncle is providing support for, so as long as they are reasonably good as spotting the earnest devs who really do want to get to market, it might work out.
