Star Citizen is providing a very valuable public service by sucking up the spare cash from unsuspecting customers that would otherwise be wasted on more frivolous items. It is providing a much needed orderly process to keep this loose cash from inundating the rest of the gaming world.

Alot of people (gamers included) believe that the more expensive something is, the better it is.....From what I have seen that is not the case here....The videos I have seen of the game are not impressive at all....I'd just as soon play No Man's Sky.

I saw a report on a high-end luxury purse that costs $2800 at the store.
It costs $57 to manufacture.

Random thought....I think Babs might be Chris Roberts on a burner account due to how upset got when I said Chris looks like Beans from Even Stevens.

Yeah but nowadays if you market it heavily and have a famous celebrity with their name behind it, then that is what makes the money.

I got a free starter ship when I bought a video card around 10 or 11 years ago, and I have zero hopes of this game EVER launching. It's just a clever cash grab.

Well... SpaceX was founded 10 years before CIG. And it's not like nobody made a rocket before. So I think we need to give Roberts at least another decade because this is truly cutting edge stuff.

Years and years back (1950) Heinlein wrote "The Man Who Sold the Moon” predicting how entrepreneurs would take us too the stars, as well as governments. Governments are still plugging away but I think Heinlein will be borne out because governments are focusing on research and "firsts", while entrepreneurs will fly you the moon.

Thing is that SC hasn't even earned that much money given the length of time it's been in development. Diablo 4 has supposedly already crossed the $1 Billion in revenue mark and took supposedly 7 years to develop. Assuming those numbers are close then Diablo 4 has earned money more than twice as fast as Star Citizen and is about to release it's first paid expansion which will just generate even more revenue.

There's probably many other examples of games outpacing CS in earnings. Helldivers 2 and Space Marine 2 come to mind if you want to talk revenue per month velocity. Heck even Starfield with its solid Mixed review status on Steam still reportedly earned almost $700 million in 2023. They just released their first paid expansion as well.

Anyway I know this thread was supposed to be a troll but I guess my point is there's apparently plenty of gamer dollars still available in the market. SC isn't even good at sucking it all up!

If you don't download it and double click the .exe icon it will never launch for you. Btw that AMD ship account is worth +$500 dollars or maybe a thousand or some. Might want to be clever about that cash grab.
