Those are some interesting accessibility features, seems a level of customization above what I am used too outside of mods.

The preset difficulty settings for *Story Mode* easy combat, *Normal Mode* regular combat, *Nightmare Mode* difficult combat etc are there like most games now, but according to the EA accessibility page it allows you to create your own customized combat setting difficulty for Combat Timing, Enemy Aggression, Enemy Damage, Enemy Health, Enemy Resistances, Enemy Vulnerability.

Changing the Parry Combat Time to something not as quick paced for those that are less fleet of finger seems a good option to have.

It would also appear to let you turn up Enemy difficulty (Aggression, Damage, Resistances, Vulnerabilities) and leave the Enemy Health alone. I am used to upping the difficulty and just having enemies become damage sponges so this looks like some settings that will be very fun to tinker with.

This game from everything I've seen just looks bland and boring. The video they released of the dragon fight looked like something you could beat by tongue punching a controller. Surely this can't be the best they can come up with, especially with all the games they have to compete against these days.

That might be rectified by the difficulty settings.

Remember, when combat is shown, unless this is a live stream, they don’t want to show party wipes. They just want to show how the encounters go down.

Is this dumbing down or just difficulty settings, that would be my concern, we have already heard the combat is simpler?

Have we? I only know that combat is different. And “no” showing no party wipes in a presentation advertising the game itself is just smart.

If I was head of a game company I sure as heck wouldn’t show wipes for broad advertising.

Now, I’d have no problem showing a wipe if we were doing a stream around a specific encounter.

Basic advertising for a game is about getting players excited for the feel of the thing. Not showing a wipe within minutes in order to show how difficult one particular encounter is.

I don't have any issue with how they decided to present the combat, but are we not past that now as the game only has a couple of weeks to launch? I thought there might be some other footage that answered the question, as always wait for the reviews before you buy and all will be revealed.

I think many of the *streamers* etc that got the 6 hour play test access were more focused on the character creator / classes / companions and basic play than testing the difficulty settings.

Also i don't think they had the option for *unbound* difficulty where they can customize individual difficulty options but rather just had the 5 presets from Story mode -> Keeper mode -> Adventurer mode (normal difficulty) -> Underdog mode -> Nightmare mode (choosing this mode there is no going back to easier modes).

One of the videos i watched mentioned changing from Keeper mode to Underdog mode and the difficulty was increased because they had not paid attention to any types of tactics fighting enemies on the easier difficulty.

I was hoping to find at least one masochist video of someone playing on nightmare difficulty for their 6 hour test but alas could not find a single one :(

Well it's sitting at 70 something for global sales on steam, you are not the only one sitting this game out.
