I am pretty sure that the less of the 10th of the players left in the game will not care about the price. They are either paying to win or selling to win. Blizzard wanted the ptw, mtx crowd. They can have it.

There's literally zero P2W in D4 unless you are referring to the power creep of the expansion which is B2P.
Paying to win what, exactly? Cosmetics? I guess if having cosmetics is winning to you then you have a point, but it doesn't affect your power level at all. Honestly most people seem to be running around in whatever came with the base price of the game. I'm sure someone buys them otherwise they wouldn't sell them. It's just not me.
DIV has no pay to win. It has one optional expansion and numerous optional cosmetics that provide no in game advantage.
Seasons are an entirely optional element of the game one can avoid entirely by playing only on the Eternal server. There is also a free version of each season for those that would like to participate but not spend money on it. While the free track has less cosmetic rewards it still has some so one can expand their wardrobe without spending any extra money.

I haven't bought any cosmetics from the store either, but check it from time to time as they occasionally put free things in there to claim.

I have yet to buy anything from the store I just now used 1 of my season pass tokens this season. I'm not sure if it's in the free track but the only thing I am even interested in is the treasure portal that looks cool
The "Micro" in Micro Transactions has become lost to Blizzard's Execs.
It already started way back in WoW, where mounts went from 10 bucks to 25 bucks.
Now 25 bucks for cosmetics has become the new normal in Blizzard's games.
Most of this doesn't really concern me. Sure, shit like this is the bane of any singleplayer environment. At the same time, I've spent hundreds on a game I don't play (League of Legends). I still support the idea (skins) insofar as none of it effects gameplay. I will say I hate the general prices of things like this (50% to 500%) of the actual game cost. But if the actual game (not withstanding) the initial buy in isn't p2p, as long as said superfluous fluff is reasonable............ I guess I'm on board...
I can understand small games (that don't make much money) or games that are created with that in mind as a core feature of the game, doing "collabs" but I can't understand a Diablo game having WoW characters in it.
Everything in everything everywhere... Ever heard about lore? game thematic? inmersion? cohesion? rationality?
I hate games as a service and I hate even more games as a global service.
Why not add Protoss, Zergs and Spaces marines to Diablo 4 then... I want to fight Ba'al with my Battlecruiser Blizz!!
Bah cosmetics I could not care less. I can run about in rags. Cosmetics is only something I indulged in Path of Exile and only because I wanted to reward the developer for a good time in their game.

Really guy? One small Google search for buy d4 items would have saved you from ignorance.

Lol. You talking about outside RMT market. Which is basically black market and exist for pretty much any multiplayer RPG game in existence.
Every MMO and ARPG out there that has the ability to trade items has a black RMT market. Warframe has one, WoW has one, Last Epoch has one, POE has one big time. None of them are sanctioned by the developers. It's just what happens when you give people the ability to trade and communicate in a game where items result in power. "Hey man, venmo me $200 for this perfectly rolled sword of stompass that is perfect for your build". Developers will never be able to stop that. What makes a game P2W is when the developers themselves decide they're going to sell you the sword for $200. Asian FTP games are notorious for this. D4 in no way does though, so interesting choice of words using "ignorance" in your post.
I quit D4 when Season 1 sucked so bad (before they made it slightly less of a time sink, I guess?), but I have a couple of friends who continued to play. Now they, too, have sworn off the game in the wake of the way Blizzard handled the recent stat squish.
What I am saying is, I know literally no one who plays this game, and I have no idea who's buying these fancy, overpriced pixels.

And yet the game has made over a billion dollars. Don't confuse the fact that you and your friends don't like the game with the game being dead or empty. I promise you, it's quite active.
Personally I found the changes to leveling and progression a positive thing. It's pretty much straight out of D3, FYI. You level to 60 then your Paragon unlocks. Why is this good?
1. It eliminated 40 levels of pure BS grind
2. It means drops you get at level 60, which is what you have to reach to even be eligible to start Torment difficulty, aren't just throw-away trash because you've got 40 more levels to go and that fancy unique that just dropped is only at level 60 meaning in 5-10 levels it's going to be obsolete.
3. It now allows Paragon levels to cross between all your alts (in the same realm), so you only have to do that grind once.
Why people don't like that is beyond me, but people have opinions and they differ and that's OK.

Well, you are not wrong. And, it doesn't change my statement.
I guess if you're a WoW fan they're cool. If I were going to buy one of the expensive cosmetic sets in the cash shop it wouldn't be any of these though.
Somehow I've accumulated a ton of coins and I'm going to spend them on mounts and stuff for all characters.
The cash shop prices are outrageous in my opinion, but also not pay to win or even for advantage that I've seen. Path of Exile has sold bundle packages for $300 - $600. The PoE cash shop and many of the bundles do contain "pay for advantage" items and not just cosmetics. People can choose their poison. I like D4.

That’s all fine and dandy but do realize you’re the outlier here. Times have changed

Lore goes directly out of the window, when it becomes an inconvenience for Top Execs to squeeze more money out of people's wallets.
Just look at Games Workshop with their recent controversies in retconning long-existing and much beloved lore, with the sudden change of there suddenly being female Custodes (and effectively throw 30+ years of established lore and Black Library books right out of the window), to appease the Execs and Woke writers at Amazon TV studios, who are now also demanding female Space Marines.
It will be interesting to see how far Games Workshop is willing to sink and give in and risk the backlash of their entire Warhammer Fanbase, just to earn a quick buck with Amazon.

Buying items from secondary parties in no way means the game is pay to win.
With that logic then the original EverQuest was pay to win.
And how!
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
To be honest thinking about the graphics do you even think they would try to do this the other way round? Would you want a grim dark D4 skin for Wow in pastel cartoon graphics? I guess some would, costume mad types will buy anything new but then it is cosmetics so I would have no beef with them doing it.
Well, you are not wrong. And, it doesn't change my statement.
Yes it does, as Blizzard has literally zero control over this and can't do a thing about it! Just like pretty much any developer running an MMO or Multiplayer RPG today that allows player trading in game.
You can literally not stop black market trading other than turning off in game player trading completely. In WoW, for example, it would mean they have to shut down the Auction House, game mail system and player to player trade. Hell, to completely stop this they would also need to make every single item in the game bind on drop/pickup. lol. And then not even talking about selling complete accounts. How you going to stop that?
In other words, TDLR; Pretty much take the MMO / Multiplayer out of every game and just turn it into a single player game. Get it now?
