Hmm. The pacing at the start is far too slow and frankly a bit dull. Oldman's speech feels VERY subdued and uninspiring. I would have started the game after that point when the fleets were approaching each other. Screw the training section and everything leading up to it with Scully and Superman. Just learn as you do the mission with the game throwing harder and harder things at you.
CR seemed more interested in including various famous actors rather than jump starting the gameplay. Mark Strong had the best performance of the first four major actors.
I can definitely feel the nu-BSG influence in the enemy fighter design as well as some musical and sound elements.
Functionally I have to question their ship design with so much glass, The turrets should be controlled remotely with cameras to help target. Breaking the glass on thee Bridge of the capital ships, after shields are lost, means venting everything in the most critical part of the ship to space. I'm just going to assume they focused on what looks cool rather than what makes sense.
a 2026 release means they are taking something like 3 years to polish a "feature complete" game. That seems crazy. Forcing the people that worked crunch to save their extra time off until after release is pretty greedy. Especially given CR's penchant for missing deadlines.
It looks fine. Not groundbreaking or anything. Just fine.

It looks good. I would have preferred watching that not in first person view because I could not watch it after awhile as it gave me motion sickness. It was lagging. Hope they fix that.
Do you still remember the 1 hour gameplay reveal from 7 years ago:
SQ 42 is looking a better than it did back then. But it's a bit depressing that 7 years ago we had an hour of gameplay footage and people expected it to release inside a couple of years. Now we also have an hour of footage and expect it should release in maybe two years.

This pretty much shows why of the delays, it's the reworks for higher quality, from that vid literally all aspects of the game got changed, character models, the lightning/visuals, the UI; HUDs; etc.
Quality right now is very good, game managed a very positive visual impact throughout every scene, now it's about bringing this up to the finish line.
I assume at this point it's going to be on CitCon 2026 SQ42 might get a specific release date, and will actually open pre-orders, this citcon was more of a "here's how it looks, SOON" thing very much, not what most were expecting but whelp.

I love the cut scenes and music score.
I think the actual gameplay needs work as you can see some clear hitching/glitching/etc... but there is 1.5-2 years to clean it up.
I love the way the debris from the battle drifts by and interferes in combat.
Vanduul may still be campy but they are a step up from the Kilrathi.
Now no more clips. Don't spoil the story. Show some gameplay improvements but no more cutscene stuff. Save the rest for launch...
Speaking of which... I wonder how much space it will take up on my drive...
