Can we try to stay calm guys, but yes I do not think the MMO genre is dying. It has morphed into different types of games like MOBA and studios are risk averse to a AAA MMORPG in the West, but that is all.

I will also say that the media (not just gaming media) has a very good track record at bringing to fruition narratives of doom and gloom by banging on about the negatives. Just something to think about.

If they are publishing it themselves then it could be considered an indie game.

I may be mistaken, but how i interpreted the article's reference to a dying MMO genre was in regard to indie MMOs not the entire market.

Is someone from MMORPG going to test the Brighter Shores CBT?

Exactly the opposite here. I truly believe that we can look to the indie devs for the innovation that I think the genre needs to flourish in the future.

Not at all an MMO is dying article here. I think the indie devs are the ones who will find the next big thing for MMOs. VR, new gameplay systems. New story themes, etc. Like other indie devs in other genres, I think it is amazing what these teams are able to accomplish with minimal teams and financial resources.

I think they could bring in a lot, but the track record has not been good. Something like Albion Online shows they can do well, but we have not had many AO's.
