Saying this not because of any "woke" bullshit that so many idiots like to spew. But this game looks awful, it's a nail in the coffin where it concerns this franchise, for me, specifically. Inquisition was already leaning into more and more incredibly high fantasy tropes. This game takes that and has decided to dial it up to 11. The tone is awful, the clean graphics, there's no grit, every class uses magic like it's just a casual thing in the world now.
They've really gone and ruined the lore and the ideals of the world for me. Now warriors are conjuring flaming swords from the sky, leaping into the air and crashing down like they're a hero from Anthem. I just don't understand it.
There was always some form of spectacle or crazy animation in the other games, but generally, they were special abilities. Now it's hard to tell who's playing as a mage or warrior.
As someone who has sat down and played and finished DA: Origins Ultimate Edition about 2 weeks ago, looking at this makes me sad and mad for what has happened to this IP. The art direction, the battle systems, the lore. I will 100% skip this installment. I don't even have hopes for the story or for the level of choice. From what I've seen from the company themselves to what I've read in articles I'll be sitting this one out.
I get that long running IP's can have a very difficult time living up to the original but this isn't a case of that. This is more of what Metallica has done. They started at Kill em All and eventually became St. Anger. And 72 seasons is still not a return to form.
Apparently pre-order sales are "soft". I will only speak to the DA lore that has been described by someone who played it as a thin veneer of DA lore over the new lore of this game. To add insult to injury the new lore is at best average, which leads me to a a golden rule of lore, if you are going to replace something that is great, what you put in had better be great.
Zero interest in this after watching some videos. What the he’ll did they do to Dragon Age?
I am starting to believe that the writers we have seen in so many new gaming franchise titles and TV series are so bad they simply can't come up with a good story. So what they do instead is change and add to the lore, then try to pass that of as story and characterisation. It has become a sort of cultural vandalism, all they now need to do is scrawl "We was here" over the box.

Bloody hell the game isn't even out, no one has played the completed game yet outside of the dev teams, lets at least see what the full product is like before we write it off completely, No one can tell us exactly how good the story is until we firstly know the full story and how its presented to us through the game world and the characters.
So whilst I probably won't buy it on release, I will look at the reviews and make an informed choice mainly due to the fact that whilst yes Andromeda was not up to the standard of the first three mass effect games, it wasn't a terrible game, thus Bioware still have credit in the bank of my consciousness, from the original dragon age games and original mass effect trilogy.
I don't know if this will be a good game or not but I'm predicting this will be the worst selling DA game and will undersell by a large margin. It just doesn't look very good to me and strays too far away from the DA formula. Also, I heard dwarves in the game can use magic. Is that true? Shouldn't be considering the lore of the game regarding magic.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
This game is DOA, visuals suck and the fact that you can only import THREE CHOICES from previous games out of thousands of much better choices is horribly baffling.
Which genius had this completely retarded idea, if this is the same plan they have for ME4, I seriously hope the entire company goes under before that...
If I had absolutely nothing to play, I would probably get it as I played the other three to various extents. Played through DA, played through but didnt like DA II, played some DA:I but didnt like it.
I'll skip this to play POE 2 or maybe continue Diablo 4 season. Maybe my side game will be Dragons Dogma 2 or TCG Card Shop Simulator.
But this is bottom of barrel for a day with nothing to do. I'll follow the reviews of course
this is what happens when all the talent leaves the building and diversity hires take the helm...enjoy the ocean floor in this sinking ship/
EA and Bioware were already churning out garbage long before the "diversity hires" were around. It's too bad commenters can't provide a more creative skewing of the truth other than "women and PoC are bad" It was an annoying narrative in 2016.
Heck, maybe Bioware will hire you since you seem to be on par with the level of creativity they are looking for in their writers.

Firstly I am not sure why you mention Andromeda? I am not a "studio gamer" as I think of them, one of those gamers who follows studios closely and bases his purchases on what he thinks of the studio. Each game should be taken for its own merits, and yes wait for the reviews, a refrain I keep saying on here myself.
I said what I did in my other post to make gamers do just that, wait for the reviews. But I was referencing a gamer who had had several hours in the game, I think if you are looking out for lore you will get a gist of it by then. Certainly that is not enough to give you an overall picture of the story, but you should be able to see how much DA lore as opposed to new lore there is in DA:VG and have a feel for how good it is.
Finally the post you quoted is referencing games and TV series which are already out, so I am not jumping the gun. But yes, we need to wait and see if DA:VG can be added to that list.
Incidentally the same guy found the graphics average but the combat good. This was but one gamers impression mind you.

You don't even realize how fking stupid people like you look when you blame everything on diversity hires without even knowing who the people are doing the job. They could all be white heterosexual males for all you know. Even if they are diverse, the fact you think that is why this game will suck just shows what a racist pos you are.

Yeah it was kind of a general post at the thread in general, your post just seemed more quotable than most, my post wasn't entirely directed at you. The reason I mentioned andromeda is a me not you thing, I very much am if not a studio gamer, then a franchise gamer

I’m sure BioWare greatly appreciates that.
