I'm also currently working my way through Inquisition. Hoping to finally finish it this time, now that my outlook on games is more mature, less perfectionist, and more focused on finishing things.
Is it going to be fun on PC? With platforming and the combat system it almost looks like it was build with a controller or console in the forefront? I know there are a lot of people now playing these games on console but it would be nice if you could play new games on PC without it feeling like it was made for your XBOX or PS5..
I will say the linked Trailer is terrible because it's just a montage of cutscenes from the game without any actual gameplay. I had to go google a gameplay video to see what the actual combat looks like. It seems this review should have included an actual gameplay video since you're putting a score on it.
I will say that 8.8 seems oddly specific. What kept it from an 8.9 I wonder? Was it 8.84123562 and you rounded down? I kid, somewhat. I mean, just call it a 9 and be done with it.
Anyway, the gameplay actually looks fun to me, so I'm tempted to get this. I want to see some player reviews, though. My issue with this whole series of games and the Mass Effect games as well as they're all 30 minutes of blah blah blah blah and then 2 minutes of combat. Then 30 more minutes of blah blah blah blah. If I wanted to watch a movie or read a book, I would just do those activities. I want to actually PLAY the game. Crazy concept, I know. Anyway, interested to see what the balance of blah blah blah to combat is.
Oof not even a 9 huh? No that we didn't know this was a pretty average game (review code embargo for reviewers with mixed views was the redest herring of red herrings) but this is like a neon sign for not a great game ("can't even lie to a 9").
Still recon it will get a 75 to 80 average score at MC, but we shall see.
If you're talking user score takes a long while to average out to anything approaching valid. Ultimately, when you've got a site that does not require proof of purchase, it's going to be highly susceptible to both review bombs and fake positive reviews. And that goes double for anything controversial.

MC users score in 3 month matches 90% of my likes. Outside wollybillys that like it all (everything is the best ever) people doesnt have any real mid term incentives to lie about a game. Unlike access media.
This is going to be like Starfield but worse. Divisive votes for sure. Critics are all over the place. From people saying it's the best game in the franchise and GOTY to the game isn't even worth it to play (lowered difficulty to easy to end as fast as possible).
Uh oh. All the doomsayers aren't going to like that it got a positive review. I don't think I will pick it up at launch, but I may get it after launch when I can afford it. I am interested in seeing some gameplay footage.
So much toxicity and stupid comments everywhere tied to this game from people who never even played it. This was a very good write-up and I'm definitely going to give this one a go in the future. Like with all large RPGs, I always wait about 6 months or so before playing them so they can fix all the bugs that are discovered. In fact for Cyberpunk, which I loved, I waited a couple of years. Just finished it :-).
I'm going to say that I'm also one of those who isn't going to trust a "paid" review of any sorts, including critics' scores on Metacritic and the likes. Everything surrounding this game has been a giant red flag, so excuse me if I don't trust your review after being one of the few cherry picked individuals who were allowed to get a review code (you need to put food on the table, I guess). I'll wait for the real reviews from those users willing to risk their time, and maybe money, playing and reviewing this.
That being said, I HIGHLY doubt that this game deserves an 8.8, even if it was a standalone title. Much less as part of the Dragon Age universe, considering how it has been confirmed that they've butchered the lore on several fronts.
Or, hear me out, until it's out, we don't get to decide which is "better." Having watched it, Skill Up was unable to get over his issues with the tone, and it colored his entire review.
And having watched him for a long time, not all of his takes are good ones.
"Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Taash will finally face their (they/them) fears and come out as non-binary, confronting their family in a powerful and diverse, fourth-wall-breaking moment that brought the IGN reviewer to tears." This will be most of the game. Be sure you like this before buying.
If it's not better than Baldur's Gate 3, it's not worth my time, and yes, those are where my expectations are at- so my apologies to all future RPGs that have yet to be created.

Best of luck to Bioware.

There Is Always Hope!
BioWare loves MMORPG!!!
It's way better than this 8.

Edit- I went and looked at the IGN review. Sadly... not parody.
