Once they release the game and start living off of sales instead of pledges, I wonder what will happen? Are there a lot of new customers who haven't gotten the game yet? Enough to keep sales going? Will they get enough from subscriptions? Can they keep selling new ships?
I'm pretty sure they'll earn a hefty amount with Squadron 42 release alone. Also that game's success will mean it will inevitably end up on consoles because it's just too much money to pass. So just there they'll be good for another decade or so while they do SQ42 sequel and eventually sign with Netflix for a whole TV series.  B)

For Star Citizen, ship sales and cosmetics alone will keep the juice flowing.

As fucked up as it sounds...  I'd be totally down with a SQ42 Netflix show.  I have the damn Wing Commander movie on DVD somewhere around here....

Do original backers get the SQ42 sequel too?  I think so... provided we live that long.

Maybe I can leave it to my kids the in will.

"In the meantime, the team has also added a “Roadmap” for 1.0 with all of the features unveiled during CitizenCon’s 1.0 presentation. However, there’s no date for any of that, so it’s essentially just a recap of features floating in theoretical space ..."

That's quite a "roadmap", it has no destination. Basically it is just another wishlist of stuff they hope to do, someday, maybe.
“Wishlist” just doesn’t make the same impact as “roadmap.” We really need to give them some time.

What are you thinking, maybe another 10 or 15 years perhaps?

    ;)

On the plus side waiting for Star Citizen gave me time to launch two satellites into space ... and they have come down again already too  (due to solar maximum with increased atmosphere drag). Maybe i can squeeze in a third one until Squadron 42 launches.

    Have fun

Why would they get a lot of money when Squadron 42 releases?

Everyone currently interested in it already owns it and the word of mouth from non-owners about the game is that it's a scam.

because people like you, saying its a scam, will be proven wrong when its released and they have evidence to refute the vaporware claims.

I think they stopped selling SQ42 6+ years ago.  It was part of the basic pledges for Star Citizen but then Roberts removed it.  I do not think he has sold SQ42 since. Then there is the belief that they will sell SQ42 for consoles which is an untapped market. (And a total betrayal of his initial pitch to us where he used the phrase 'exclusively for the PC', but that's another discussion)

I could be wrong.  I'm sure Babs has the dates and revenue numbers memorized.

Getting anything Star Citizen to run on consoles would take another 12 years.

Star Citizen is heavily CPU bound and the consoles have weak CPUs and strong GPUs.

Star Citizen also uses way more RAM than what the consoles have.

So, CIG would have to wait until the PlayStation 6 and then see if they can port it.

I don't know about any of that.  Maybe you are right.  I just know that when the diehards start to prep us for something it's usually because they know something is coming.

Waiting for the PlayStation  6 to come out sounds definitely on the CIG remit.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
