Love the IP, but Riot isn't great at monetizing their games. Here's hoping they come up with something better than the old f2p p2w loot-box bonanza that they definitely would have tried a few years ago.

That's not negative or positive. They scrapped what they had and started over because they didn't like the direction. I appreciate that. That just means many years before we even get to know what play style or flavor of MMO they are making. So ya. See ya in 3 to 8 years. Most likely ready for a new MMO by then.
Riot has never been P2W. It's always F2P with cosmetics. I played all their games to a very high level and only spent the money I wanted to support the games I like.
Yeah hopefully buy to play with a cosmetics cash shop. Just please don't do FTP.
Free to play is the only monetization that Riot knows.
Maybe I wrong but they have managed to keep games going with just selling cosmetics. I'm fine with that.
Riot games only sell cosmetics ...if they remain successful.
Legends of Runeterra started only selling cosmetics and was very generous at throwing loads of cards at people.
But LoRT didn't make money, so last year they started selling cards and booster packs.
Um, actually, they have ended development on the PvP part of the game and gone all-in on Path of Champions, the PvE spin-off, which requires a lot less work to update.

That is so weird. I dropped out shortly before the Emporium update.
Guess people really didn't want to buy those cards.
I can make a good guess, it's probably going to end up the same way as Warhammer 40k Eternal Crusade and then shutdown a few years after release.
They already came out saying they believe an actual MMO like WoW is not what people want, which is actually what people really want, a huge open world MMO set in LoL universe.
But they decided to let go Ghostcrawler and go with BS, oh well, another fail in the making...

I believe Ghostcrawler left because he wanted to spend more time with his family after a family member passed away. Don't think he was let go from Riot.

It's cuz people want an mmo to play before the next Ashes or Star Citizen alpha phase.
I'll more than likely play it anyways.

The only hope I have from Amazon Games is the upcoming LotR mmo lol.
