Nope. I'm posting on a new account because my old account is banned, and I grew up on Runescape which was made by this dev, and I love runescape, so I am interested in this game too. This is crazy lol. Just because someone corrects someone else about misinformation on a game, you jump to a conspiracy about them being a dev lol

Pretty sure it's the fact your skills reset after each chapter meaning starting at 0 each zone. Game doesn't respect your time.

That's not precisely how it works. You do not lose your skills, but each area has it own skill that serves as your profession in that location and determines your combat ability there.
You start in town and are employed as a guard. Any progression as a guard isn't lost, but is totally useless when in the next region you become a scout.
Any progression as a scout remains but only applies to that area. Should you decide to go back to town your guard ability applies once again.
So, it's sort of like classes in FFXIV, but each zone forces you to learn a new class from scratch that is only applicable to that zone.
So, it's quite different from the norm.
So, you don't "lose" your skills and progression. You just lose access to them. Those are two totally and completely different situations likes you say.... with the EXACT same outcome.
It sounds like a lame gimmick to me and not interesting at all. Why would I want my progress reset on a zone by zone basis? Have fun with that.

I think it's more on the level of temporarily losing your ability to use your equipment until you return to the previous zone or get new zone-exclusive equipment on the new zone.

Your progress is not being reset. It's not the same outcome at all. If your progress was reset that means you if went back to the first area (actually, its more accurate to call it an "act" or an "episode" rather than a zone), then you would have to level them again, which is not true.
Let me ask you, If you are at the shore fishing, does it matter if you have your woodcutter skill? No, because is not something that is relevant in that area. There are no trees to cut in the ocean.
Okay, not literally reset, just blocked because we entered a new region. I get that returning to an old zone enables access to them again.
This is an RPG. Why and in what world would I suddenly forget everything I know? Why lock skills that I already know away? Why can't I use things I learned previously to solve problems now? Why are those skills now totally irrelevant? It sounds so lame.
It really reeks of on rails dumbed down MMO game play that is used to tightly control progression. This has become a hallmark of live service games like MMOs and a big reason why I think so many are flailing. It certainly isn't appealing to me. Maybe it will find an audience, but unlikely with my online gaming group.
That's ok. It's fine to have different preferences. My issue is people saying it resets. I also think saying they get locked is a bit misleading. It implies that you could use those professions in the new area if they were unlocked, which is not the case. You cannot catch a fish from a pond with no fish.
The way that I look at it is that each area (each "episode") is functionally different. You do different tasks and solve different problems with different professions, and each area has a lot of leveling content to go back to for its professions.
In most other MMOs, the areas are aesthetically different. You do the same tasks throughout all areas, and the areas are finished quickly and you move on with little reason to return.
Question is then, is the game design such that players will have a good reason to go back to previous zones to level additional content /skills?
If so, them I could see this working for me, EVE Online was somewhat similar in this regard, although skills learned could be used most anywhere, you always did have a good reason to go back and use said skills to progress your income, improve your kill board rating, or conquer a new or old area of space.

Found an interesting comment on a player Steam review regarding the overlapping of skills between acts.
Sort of answers my original question of why players would go back to older zones, especially since the skill cap is 500 and in the spirit of OSRS, apparently the grind is real.
I've forgotten though, what was the debate again on whether or not Palia was a MMO?
Not sure it matters as except for being hashtagged as an MMO the game's description doesn't call itself one, rather is described as an RPG instead so I'm guessing player interaction is limited mostly to chat?
4 - Life skill professions aren't exactly act-specific. Lots of skills have overlap into each other. I.E., you need Woodcutting (Act 2) to supply for Blacksmithing (Act 3), and you need Archaeology (Act 3) and Cultivation (Act 2) to supply for Alchemy (Act 1).
On top of that, you can bring stuff like potions from Act 1 to their full functionality into other acts.
5 - 'social activities' isn't what makes an MMO an MMO. Let's not beat the dead horse of "Is Palia an MMO?" again"

Crafting from what I've read is currently confined to making things for which the only use is selling them to NPCs for coin, so if you get short on that there is one reason to return to town. I don't know if any others exist as of yet.
It's sort of like a RPG melded with an episodic television series. Each new zone is a separate episode in the series where you start essentially from scratch and work your way to the conclusion of it only to start again from square one in the next show.
