So big company is not doing too good and eyes smaller company that is beating them in all metrics except size.
Big company adquires, absorbs, "merges", with smaller one and instead of looking at what the small company was doing that beat them mercilessly and apply it to themselves they go and apply their actual failing system onto the smaller company.
Fast forward a few years.
You have 2 outcomes. Smaller company fails as the bigger one was doing. Its being torn down to the minimum common denominator from the bigger company OR smaller company frees itself from big company by autobuying itself at great cost, leaving them as a former thin shadow of themselves or getting some edge fund to pay for their independence but making them miserable.
Well for the money folks KadoKawa stock jumped about 40% when this potential *Sale* to Sony was announced, but we all know how these acquisitions go, job redundancies, change in business strategies, product alterations etc and the fans usually get the short end of the stick.
Sony stock is doing pretty well also, other than a a noticeable drop in August, just after an open test of a certain vocally criticized soon to be released then cancelled game, it has rebounded very well.
The gaming studios are just a bonus on this acquisition, not the main focus and probably not the last we will see.
The leadership there after selling off some good gaming studios seem to have done an about face, trying to shore up Playstation before Call of Duty could potentially be made Xbox exclusive in what 8 years?
