Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

I really need a new game to play.

Well, as the title states, I need a new game to play. Be it open beta, or if you have to pay, I want to hear of it (though if you have to pay, I would prefer a trial).

I have played many, many, maaaaannnny games, infact, im sure if beta tested most of the games listed on this website.

As for what I like in a game... Interactions, I don't want to get bored of doing one thing (this means I do not like games where it's JUST combat and such). I like little details, things like player hosuing and pets are attractive to me.

If you know any, please say them.

If you say something ive played, I will add it to this list:

Empty as of yet.

I wish I could help.  All I can say is that I, too, have played wayyyy too many games and been disappointed way too often.  I'll watch this thread.  I'm hoping we both can find something worth playing.  (I'm not playing any MMORPG's for the last 3 months... the longest time for me since I started playing them in 1999).

Aye, good luck to the both of us. Let's just try not to keep this thread from dying out, in hopes that we can both find something good.

I'm a Saga of Ryzom fan myself. It's not the most "market friendly" game, but it is pretty good. It has housing for players and guilds, great community. Quests are sparse and boring, but if you have friends and a guild, they really don't feel all that bad.

The best part is the foraging/crafting system, but if you aren't into crafting, then you probably won't like it.

Either way, good to check it out. If you get the trial, they don't charge you extra cost for the game, just subscription fees after time runs out.

Same - not interested in a game that is too long established (unless it has a new server) - was hoping DnL would be it - but frankly its the poorest offering thats gone p2p Ive ever seen - beats even the disasterous launch of shadowbane.

if you want to wait for some betas to come out then here are some games :

    Cabal Online
    Aion

runescape doesnt really have a good community, everywhere you go theres either sombody wanting to cyber sex, a scammer, spammer, hacker, name callers, everywhere.
anyways try mu online or knight online, those are some good f2p games with fairly good graphics

I suggest checking the forums on Eudomons before starting the install.  True, it's free to play, and it's an open beta, but a few of things turned me off right away...

    1. They want a security number for future identification if you have problems and they give you the option of using your social security number... DON'T DO IT... make up a number, for your own safety and security.
    2. They offer a "faster download" through a peer-to-peer program and you must agree to let others download the game from your computer in the future...  this really rubs me the wrong way... if you wanna play the game, i suggest you use the FTP download, even if it is slower.  Again, safety and security issues.
    3. There are several PK (Player-KIller) information threads on the forums for the game.  I hate open PK and so, I cancelled the download and won't play it.  I hate games where it's considered cool to be able to kill level 1 players for fun... and I hate games where some little jerk can chase you down and take all the good stuff you just spent hours getting...
    4. Several forums postings really push that you get a group with higher level players to be "safe"... and since I'm a FFXI survivor, I avoid games where I'm forced to find the "right group" just to be able to play for an hour or 2... I really don't like spending hours looking for a group only to have to leave the game for sleep, work, or other life stuff... this stupid waste of time, standing around with a LFG tag and doing nothing might work for kids and the unemployed, but not for me.

So, I guess my point is to make sure the game is really what you want, before taking the time to download etc...  why waste time on a stinker?...

If before you've tried Planeshift, I think you should go back and see what it's become, It would be worth your while to at least keep it installed for a few months to see the development in the world. After you get past the slow start and the semi-akward controls it only gets better, being at such a early stage of development and still being fun to play with great players, i'd say it's one of the most potential games I've come across in a long time. It sort of reminds me of a graphicly beefed up everquest with gameplay like Ultima Online. Yet still keeping it's own uniqueness. This is one game that's going to hit the record books.

I've played lots of recent mmorpg including WOW - EQII  - GuildWars - RF online - Legend of Ares and tbh i got bored with them all for various reasons

i dont usually post on forums but i wanted say that i found SPACE COWBOY (3D SCI/FI space wars) to be the best game ive played for a long time 10/10 - give it a try u wont regret it!! (and im 57 years old!!)

I am sorry to say that ive played most games listed, some were good, but couldn't hold my interest (I am a veteran in Runescape, I only play it off and on, though).

Space cowboy was good. Ive seen Hero, couldn't find any screenies though.... I signed up for the beta anyways, but haven't gotten any notice on it.

Heh, sorry man but I gotta say Runescape is damn lame. Maybe if they did something about those graphics... or the character movement... Actually I don't know if theres much that can help that game :p.

I've looked at several games with betas open or coming... I haven't found one that is open and running that I want to play right now, yet, but the following are on my "games to watch list".

Not sure if any of these will turn out well, but I'm always watching for interesting concepts and hopefully one of these will be MY game.  Maybe one of them will work for you, too!

Aye, Aion sounds sort of neat. Ill watch it.

I have some more specs that may help narrow things down:

    Good things:
Freedom- I like to go where I see, and go many places.

    Bad things:
Gender-specific classes- A MAJOR Nono in my book. I HATE it when certain classes have to be male or female, it just ruins it for me.

Probably mmorpg is just not your type.

It's been mentioned a few times already but II'd say Hero Online is a potential candidate and it starts up tomorrow too.
