Why is it so hard for me to get into this game?

WinkEntWinkEnt Member Posts: 12

I keep trying every little bit to dive into this game, but it's like everytime I start I never finish.  I keep using the trials accounts, but it gets bland.  I used to love this game when it first came out, I am not playing any MMORPGS right now and I'm in desperate need of one.  I want to get into this game so bad, but it seems everytime I try I'm just not satisfied with it.  I think it's cuz I compare it to the other MMORPGS out there, and the only MMORPG I've ever been totally satisfied with was Ultima Online.

I think this is about as close right now as I'm going to come. But I just can't seem to get into it!  It's like playing Zelda the Windwaker.  You want to love it so much, but you can't ever get into it.

I need someone to give me some good reasons to play cuz mine aren't panning out.  Thanks!

what server are you trying to start on? with a trial account, you're going to be a lot better off on the classic servers, where you don't have the /level feature. /level allows all those with a lvl 50 to jump any alts to 20, so the starter areas are nearly bare.
Also a lot of people now level in the catacombs areas, using the task dungeons for quick exp. I dare say that on a classic at least, if there's a few people doing task dungeon runs, at least a couple would be willing to form a group to roam the classic areas instead.
Main problem is, imo, there's too many additions to make levelling less painful for vets, and it's resulted in alienating any newcomers.

I played DAoC for 3 years before quitting, NOT because I hated it, just because I wanted to try others out. I think you'll find this game very appealing if you find the character thats right for you. When I first got the game I was confused as hell as to which type of person I should be, which race, class, and attribute combinations would get me the best character? I was utterly confused. But after finally trying out the necromancer class, I was instantly into the game after almost considering to quit. The necromancer was also my first 50. After that 50 I had 4 more quickly afterword, the game is fun to get into after you learn what it takes to level, and how to commune with the other players in the game. Then, after learning all the areas were people, and the best experience and monsters are, it all falls into place.

    Any other questions? Just ask.

the low level life is DEAD in daoc... of you dont have a 50 or a good guild.. then the game is very very empty at 1-20 then 24-35.. then once again! at 44-50... those gaps i mentioned are the only active bg's.

DAoC has a very very hardcore PvP base.. i played for 4 years, only got 3 50's and none of them over RR4 because of that.

so i became a BG rat, with twinked out characters in every realm.. nearly every class.. very buffed all the time lol

basically if you dont have money or friends the game is tough to get into ill admit it.

fortunately enough for me i started when the game was getting popular on a PvP server that the actually wound up deleting (Andred) then moved to Kay Hib and gained quite the reputation there within my guild on my hero. most fun ive EVER had in ANY mmo. but i just cant seem to get back into the game now.

    Not so true anymore.
Low level life on Gareth is thriving and there is never really any trouble finding groups IF you have the expansions and can do task dungeons. The TD's and more have made leveling up toons easier and capping them is not as time consuming as it used to be.

I think the upcoming 45-49 BG will make things easier for people before they go to NF. You can stick in a roaming BG environment and hit RR 4L9 pre-level 50 NF and learn what roaming is like.

    Dark Age of Camelot/Guild Wars

    DAoC: Arrawynn--37 Sylvan Valewalker--Gareth
    Aryne--23 Elf Eldritch--Gareth
    Serenadia--17 Elf Blademaster--Gareth

Guild Wars: Summoner Jiro-- 8 Ritualist/Monk
Mila Mandylion-- 5 Necromancer (soon to be Necro/Mesmer)

It all depends on what you want.  I would say that part of the problem is you are using the trial accounts.  The content you get with that is not the best content to show off DAOC as it is today.

Need friends to get into the game.....a new players soloing with a trial account won't get far enough. You have to at least reach the lv20-24 battleground wearing at least "ok" gear to get a feel for what DAoC is.

Not so true anymore?  I think you mean not so true anymore on all but ONE server, which is Gareth and thats only because people have to reroll there.  Low level community on regular servers are almost non-existant.

If you need other people to give you reasons to play a game, it is time to move on to another game.  You should play a game because you enjoy it, not because someone told you to enjoy it.
