in MapleStory

How can u guys play this game without choking to death??? I mean, 2D? C'mon Wizzet, thats like stupid sonic =.= have a long hard think......3D!! it would make a VERY BIG difference to your game.

    I know the grapghic arn't that great but they are pretty good for a free online game. I noticed you said "fellow maplestory players", this mean you play to. So you have nothing to talk about, telling us you can't believe we still play. The graphics are a lot better than lets say Rune Scape where you have to pay to get the full benifits.

    You don't judge a game by the graphics, and besides to that, 2D is beautiful.

    Dude, are you mentally retarded? More then three quarters of all the great games there ever was, are 2D. Maybe 3D games are for you! Fine, whatever, your choice. But in my opinion, there is not good 3D MMO out there yet that actually has decent camera angles. So, I play 2D games. Plus, Maplestory has GREAT graphics for a 2D game. The sprites are beautiful. And since when has graphics had anything to do with the fun of a game? To me, an MMO is about the gameplay, community, and the content. Nothing more. So stop dissing Maplestory just because you can't happen to get past level 7.

    Exactly, a true gamer won't search a game for graphics, but for fun and something that appeases his/her heart!
    Come on, you gotta be a real satan worshipper not to like the cute anime graphics! Anime rocks! Anyway, if it weren't for 2D games, there wouldn't be 3D today! =P

    I can't stand playing Maple Story, dunno why doesn't matter I guess, but I kinda like the graphics. Maybe it is how it looks similar to the older NES and Master System games, but they are fairly well done...not overly creative but atleast different from standard now.

    some peoples computers can't handle that 3D graphic (clog in the toilet) lag and play lower quality games to better suit their situation... what was that my mother taught me when i was 5?... eh...think before you speak was it? (in this case type) the rest of you maple faithfuls also give great points...

    some company should just stick to 2D game instead because their 3D graphic are so hideous.

    Its not that its not '3d' . The graphics could be better. I just quit like a week ago. Why? It just got plain boring. Its just a hunting game made to take your time away. I would rather be spending all day looking for a decent game then MapleStory. I mean, honestly, they could have made it better. The market system- SUCKS. And the cash shop stinks as well, I wouldn't spend 1$ on that game. Its not worth it. And leveling is hard because of the experience stealing mages, which mages, are overpowered. My level 26 mage does almost 200/200 with the magic claw attack, while my friend's level 32 assassin only does like 100/100(something around that) with his lucky seven.

    Overall Maplestory is a waste of time.

    To my knowledge,MapleStory is currently the ONLY 2d side-scrolling platformy MMORPG in existence. And I like the easy-to-use gameplay of it too. I'll admit it's a grinding PvE game at heart,but it's not too bad on occasion,and using it casually I'll have a few more months of fun with it. Beats all the 3d sometimes.

    Sadly,like Runescape it suffers from 'immature community' syndrome,as most expressed on the forums. There are some nice people in there,but you know. I've heard worse things in here than I have in Runescape at times,and also with the fame system griefers have a visible way of punishing people. But likewise the fame system is a neat idea,imo. Also,I do think the archers/mages have a decent advantage in the KS stakes; as a warrior > spearman > dragon knight in training,I find it most annoying when an archer or mage just starts slaying everything. However,Maple thankfully has a tag system so the exp is shared mostly in my favour if I'm finishing off something and they come in; they gain squat. Plus they usually pass the items by so I hang around and gain their items.

    Nevertheless,in small doses I quite enjoy the 2d world of Maplestory. I am also looking forward to the Legend of Ares/Hero Online creators attempt on taking this MMO genre on with their own 'Ghost Online' in development.

    Considering it's a free game it has quite a good feel about it. Of course,that stands for now mostly because it's one of a kind. When that changes......we'll see.....

    I'd certainly try this game once. You might find a break from 3d MMORPG a nice and simple change.

    Wow. Ok first off. I still have no clue why you guys are rambling that the graphics are bad. Have you ever seen a 2D game with better graphics? Cause IMO I haven't. 3D games can sometimes 1. Have HORRIBLE camera angles. In 2D games there's no problem with the camera 2. Can lag slower computers down 3. Can completly distract you (aka lineage 2). For the cash shop, i really don't think it's that bad. It makes you more unique that all the other players. You don't have to pay of course. Third, Your friend must of sucked some major ass! At level 32 on my assassin i did around 400 on each hit. So i could do 800 in all. Now i can do a good 4k damage with my lucky7. I do not think maplestory is a waste of time at all. And if you'd take the time to actually get past the n00b stage then maybe you'd enjoy it.

    I Do Think Maple Is One Of The Best Games Ive Played and I Have A Few 3D Game Aswell Such As ferrentus, Thang online & Mu. I Get Bored Playing 3D Games But Could Play Maplestory For Hours And Not Get One Bit Bored If You Ask The Majority Of This Board Then They Will Say It's A Great Game.

    If You Havent Got Anything Nice To Say Then Shut Yer Mouth!
    And What Are You even Doing On The Game's Board If You Dont Like It!

    People are entitled to say WHY Maplestory sucks,especially if they've played it and give good reasons. Its when they say it sucks and don't give reasons WHY that it's pointless.

    Indeed, and let's not forget how incredibly repetitious and boring the gameplay is.  It consists of beating random monsters over the head, moving to the next location, beating more monsters over the head, upgrading equipment, moving to the next location and doing the same motions all throughout the game over and over and over again.  There are no real choices the player can elect to do in terms of character development or gameplay experiences.

    And the fact it's all in a side scrolling 2D environment just makes it worse.  There is a reason why it is free...

    If I wanted to play an MMO like this, I would just play-

    Yes, people are entitled to their opinions, but it's also offensive to people that do play.
    I think it's best to not say anything in this situation, rather than to provoke someone.

    Graphics aside, this game felt like nothing more than a solo grind to me. I managed to get a character to level 25 odd, and then it became what seemed to be an unbearable pointless grind.



    The quests are also too repetitive, you have to kill many monsters over and over to get the needed drops.

    Sigh IN endless-online, the kill steling magfes have been stopee. there is no more kill steling. first to hit gets the kill. partys can have muilt hiting players. ANYWAY endless-online, is a weee bit better than maple stroy. ONE EVRY ONE IS EQUAL<SORTA OF MAGES STILL HAVE CRAZY POWER BUT IT HARD TO GET THAT STRONG ALSO THERE ARE QUESTS AND PVP SO TKAE YOUR CHOICE> LAME 2D SIDE SCROOLER OR cool 3D ENDLESS> ALSO MERTRIOD 3 FOR THE SUPER NINTENDO WAS AN ASOME SIDE SCROLLER>^^<

    I have absolutely no complaints about Maplestory's graphics. I like 2D, I even like to dabble in spriting (see my avatar). I played Mapestory and thought of it as a grindfest. But then, that's just my opinion.

    This game takes waaay to long to level up, You have to kill like..4000 Monsters to get to level 32..

    Yeah, if you noticed I posted that about half a year ago, when hacking wasn't a major problem in MS at all T_T

    Oh, and for the killing monsters thing, My sin is level 94 now and i can kill about 40-100 monsters a minute depending on the monster. But it still takes me like, 2 weeks to level now T_T
