GUILD WARS FANS: What do you want to know?

AdminAdmin Administrator RarePosts: 5,623

Hello faithful members!

We are going to be conducting an interview with the devs at ArenaNet.  Our motto around here is that we try to make this YOUR site as much as possible...so I am curious...what questions do you have about Guild Wars?

I can't guarantee we will ask them all, but we will pick the ones we think are the most interesting!

    I got a question:

"What made you change your Graphics Engine, was it the the bad press you got at E3 about the dated graphics you were using? I also heard that members of Battle.Net, on the forums, were thinking the same thing and that they thought the games graphics were a joke almost."

    And Another:

"What wil be the requirements for the closed beta? I heard from a very good source that you wanted 64Mb GFX for the alpha and about 1.2Ghz CPU with 256mb RAM. Will the same requirments be needed to be met for the Closed Beta or will you be wanting to see how the game runs on a 32mb, as you did say yourselves you want this game to be excessable to nearly everyone."

    And Another:

"What kind of Guild Features will their be? I've heard of many things like Guild Halls but none of them have been confirmed. I personally like the sound of Guild Halls from what i've heard about them but your ideas might be totally different."

    And Another: image

"How many areas will there be in the game? I know there will be a PvP area GvG area and a quest area but will there be public areas like one city for instance where you may buy better weapons better armour and trade with other players and just expericence an MMOG which i assume this is."

Ok i think thats enough, I'll be back if i have anymoreimage

a question I, and many other people have been pondering a lot, is whether Trade Skills would be in the game or not, so I'll go ahead and state the question:

"Have Trade Skills been implemented into Guild Wars, and if not, are there plans to add them?  If the answer is no, are there any reasons as to why they were excluded?"

in my oppinion, this is an important question that no other fan site has asked.

    thanks for taking suggestions image

I have a list of questions that I've posted in separate thread.

Lately I've been asked this question many times by others in other forums....

Exactly how people will be joining the game?

Is it like diablo or starcraft where the host wait till 10+ other players join the game and the host give a go?

Or is it like an on-going world where people just join a game world where some people are already in it.

In either cases, how many people can the arena network can support for one gaming session, if the concept of persistant world is not applicable in this case?

the Guild Wars world is persistant.

however when going to do Quests, the quest-area will be instanced to give a private copy of the area to you and/or your guild.

Just for reference, if a game requires this kind of "startup" then it is not a MMORPG.  We require that all games on our list exist in a persistent world.

What will be the overall background story? Will we just be given the world and a "Here it is - play nice" from the developers?

How will your game be profitable if it doesn't have a subscription? Subscriptions also give the developers a shield against some players that don't fit in socially with others and provides an income to block malcontents and game threatening cheat programs.

The benefits of the subscription far outweigh the cons. I personally would rather pay a nominal fee to escape the type of people that use free online games.

I believe there is already a post about this....search under the guild wars posts and you should find it...I believe a developer from ArenaNet actually posted on the question also.

Unless it was Gaile Gray it wasnt a "developer". Apart from her, the rest of us who are providing info are Alpha Testers. Only Gaile is arena.net staff as PR-manager.

    *Disclaimer*

I am an alpha-tester at arena.net. We have been appointed "ambassadors" to share our experiences with GW, but us alpha-testers are no offical spokespersons. GW is far from done and the game, and our experiences, change on a daily basis. You are getting a view at a game being developed, not at the finished product .
