Ultima Online (a long time ago) has been the only good MMO i have ever played.. and i have played ALOT of them.. and waisted alot of time... all since totally blow.. (AC-DT was ok)
Real class system with CHOICE and polyvalence (Hybrids done right), lot of customisation, Real time and fast yet a RPG and not an action game, solo friendly, group friendly.
2- EverQuest
The primary source, with sooo many nice aspects, yet soo many critical flaws. Too bad folks expands mostly on the flaws rather than on the strongpoints. AAs, LDoN, MANY class that are differents, group friendly...the main flaws resolve around "timesinks", especially when they are incorporated in a FOREIGN gameplay as raiding...
Depending on my mood, these are the less bad MMOs, or the best. Depend on hope. Since BioWare is making a MMO, I am happy and positive, so they are the best for now, BioWare will change that of course!

-World of Warcraft before the battlegrounds, and before I hit 60. Too bad I couldn't have both, and too bad WOW lost all meaning of PvP the moment BG's were introduced.
There has been no other truely good MMO. I never got to play UO Pre-Trammel. Darkfall is the last bastion of what I want in an MMORPG.
Asherons Call 1. Way ahead of of its time in every way except graphics. Sprawling seemless overworld, skill based advancement system, awsome exp system, random drops, exp per hit instead of kill, monthly updates, PvP. Now its not to say that it didnt have any flaws, but new devs would do well for themselves to follow their model instead of the WoW model.

i love this guy/gal, a mega legend! he/she has a very good point..
anyways, i think the best 'MMORPG' of all time has got to be..
~Everquest~
it had an amazing feeling, thats the game that got me into 'MMO's, thats where i lost my heart.. the gameplay was so amazing for its time, but i must admit, the rules where a little strict, i quit after been banned for 'ninja looting', i didnt even know that it was a crime.. but i guess everyquest wil always be at the top of my list, even though i have forgotten my account name and everything else.. oooh the good old days!
UO pre-trammel, DAoC pre-ToA,NF. Why is it that when ever a company attempts to make a game more appealing the the masses they always end up crapping on their original player base...

By the way, did you know Blizzard bought China?

I'm kind of a pre-cu SWG fan.
Open Beta WoW was fun as well...
The Saga of Ryzom was going to be good, until they screwed up missions, and just made it a faction grind.
Anarchy Online, with its new expansion, will be pretty amazing.
Any MMORPG without children WhO tYpE lIkE tHiS is awesome as well
EVE

Dark Age of Camelot all the way as well. Best PvP (rvr) battles. Beats lineage griefing and WoW/EQ carebears.
All other game features, including graphics support the RvR battles very well. (Housing zones with portal for faster access to hot zone etc...)
What deserves to be done, deserves to be "well" done...
