Atlantis it would be Shepard, McKay however has come along way and is funny!
Atlantis I would have to say my favorite is John Shepherd and then Ronin as my second favorite and my third favorite would have to be Carson Beckett (The Scottish Doctor Flawless was talking about)

SG-1: I really liked O'Neill, but Mitchell isn't doing too bad either. He plays off the other characters differently, so the show seems fresh even after nine years. (Besides, I loved Farscape and Browder made that show shine.)

SG-1 = Jack O'neill and Dr. Jackson tied. Followed by Thor
SG-Atlantis = Shepard

ok you guys have it all wrong:
ok fleger and coomes are great in that episode, but felger is too much of a david brent from office ( played by the great ricky gervais) kinda character, does my nut, coomes is funny though.
However back to star gate, ok my top 5
1. teal'c, im sorry but the eye brow raise always gets me, he is the straight man to jack o'neils comedy, plus i cant stand richard dean anderson just for the crime that is macgiver
2. mackay, hes less developed in sg but then agian he chats up carter so much its funny,
3. carter, just cause shes hot
4. Thor, hes funny too, and also the comment that o'neil makes to him about, whats soo interesting as ot make the asgard travel millions of light years to just look to see whats in someones colon
5. has to be daniel jackson, funny, but also a geek and we all know geek is the new cool, plus i love the line where he gets asked if he is always the way he is and he says yes, till i die, or even sometimes beyond that or somthing like that, great character, and makes glasses cool

atlantis is my favorite of the two, and i like Dr. McKay, he makes me laugh like 99% of the time.
Dr. McKay and Dr. Jackson,not too found of that new guy that has replaced o neill...his character just hasnt grown on me.

SG-1: Vala. I burned out on SG-1 and she's been the only thing to draw me back. She's brought new life to the show IMO.
Atlantis: McKay. He's the only reason I watch... everyone else bugs me. Especially Weir. Someone get her a friggin' sandwich.

Thats not what was said, It was in the EP were Daniel goes to atlantis and hes talking to the Anscent and she says some thing to the effect that he hasn't changed a bit, and Daniel Responds by saying "Nope not till I die, and some times not even then."
He was making a crack about how when ascended he was the same as he was before and when he became human again he was still the same.
As for my favority characters. On SG-1 its O'neill (and some of you are spelling it wrong, its O'Neill with two Ls not one. O'neil was the one from the movie.) and Daniel Jackson is my other favority character.
Atlantis its: Mckay and Ronon
As for side characters it would be Thor and Salmack
O'neill and Mckay hands down.
I was just watching an old episode. I think season 1 or 2. O'neill and Teal'c were talking about a black hole event that Carter wanted to moniter. Teal'c looks at O'neill and says " I still don't understand what a black hole is" and O'neill says "well it's a big...hole... it's black... it's sucks in everything.. even light." Teal'c raises his eyebrow and says "Thanks O'neill".. It was beautiful and we're only just this season starting to get that chemistry with the new cast members.
Rodney just cracks me up with his arrogance. The last episode with his sister(actaully his sister in real life too) was probably the best Atlantis to date. It was the first episode that got SG1 ratings as well.
I can't stand Ronin and Teyla. Everytime i watch i hope it's the episode they die in LOL.

I'm a Daniel fan on sg-1 (am fond of archiology so...) and from Atlantis I would have to say I like Radik Zelenka
I hate ronin.
O'neill for sg-1 and that hot <girl> that used to be the companion in firefly. Mckay for atlantis.
