In E&B you could actually form squads and various formations. Each ship had unique characteristics.  You had a healer, tank, Enforcer (damage dealer), Jenqui Explorer for cloaking and buffing.  You could dock and actually get out of your craft and talk with the people you fly with, including trading and missions.

Jumpgate - None of those (Has Aliens - Squids, Mantras, etc.)

Eve Online - None of those

    Darkspace - Proabably not

SWG - some, but in space there are no unique skills to help your teamates during battle.  Any alien beings here in space?  Never saw one

Eve onlines customization consists of its on the list, you have it.  Could you see it? Does it look cool?   Do you have a microscope?  Any aliens (that are not in ships) there?

Sorry, none of the space ones you mentioned came close to this game.

EnB was a standard MMO type game juxtaposed onto a sci-fi ship-based setting.

I have played EVE now for about 3 months, my subscrition ends tomorrow, and I dont think that I will renew it.

To me it seems...well...kinda pointless. here is my take on it

My Character (if you can call it that) has all +3 implants, and I am flying a Raven with T2 shield hardners, Cruise and large hybrid turrets

    1. You start out with level 1 missions run through those, then you get to level 2 missions....and you think wow ok cool....then suprise it EXACTLY the same mission as in level 1 just tougher ships. Its the same all the way up to level 4 which I have done.

    2. the ONLY thing different about the "zone" or "star systems" is the Cloud graphics...that is it.

    3. Warping through planets and space stations is not realistic (bug + windshield)

    4. When you exit a base being bumped around like a ping pong ball by a batam, when your in a battleship is not realistic.

5 When you group, only the person who accepts the mission get the reward or standing increase. (except for the ships you kill in the mission from bountys etc) So why team up then???

    6. There is no character development in setting a skill to train then loging back in 5 day 23 hours and 59 minutes later just to click another.  thats is kinda gay imho..the more i use a skill the better I should become at it.  as it is now.......every mofo in the game that is flying a raven has Missile launcher 5, Cruise 5, etc etc.

    7. if you and I build a raven they are EXACTLY the same....why would I bother to train a skill just to build another widget the same as 30,000 other people....I would have liked to see me build a rave with 8 low slots or better shield and resists....or....8 missile bays instead of the stock 6 MB 2 Tur that .....get my drift? Then be able to patent the BPO that would make me WANT to learn those skills...

    8.  Mining just plain SUCKS.

    9.  IF I hit a small ship with a cruise missile it should blow the crap out of it...but in eve....the bigger and more powerfull your missiles are, the less damage you will do???????????????? explain that one!  I know it has something to do with Exp radius vs velocity but come on..I have see people webify a frigate to a STANDSTILL and still do 49 pts of damage on itwith a Cruise missile.

I could go on but you get my point...to me it just does not MAKE me want to play it, I dont have the....I cant wait to get home from work to log on....or waking up at 4am on my day off to play until midnight that night.

God...I cant wait for Vanguard to come out.....I remember (betaing EQ) and when I first played EQ back on relase day.  I would actually enjoy exploring and doing quests ....that is why I am following Vanguard cause they know how to make a hardcore RP mmorpg. Unfortunatly they sold that game the creators left and now its just to lame.  I hope this time Brad hold on to creative development of Vanguard cause I am amped.

and I really liked it too.  Sure, you could play WoW, EQ2 and other mmo's with a healer, tank, mage, rogue....all contribute to the battle in their own way.

I liked the space setting with those elements.  There are just none out there now that come close.

Can I have all your noob stuff? (cause guys, you don't seem to know almost anythig about how diferent sistems work together in EvE)
    kkthxbai

PD: this thread just sucks and if it's because EvE has been at the top rating for too much time I would trade it for a lower rate if it means this doesen't come up again.

I dont think Eve is a bad game at all.  It's just not my type of game. We all have our own tastes.

Some people just voice theirs a lttle more than others.

You can form gangs in EVE. Each ship in EVE has a different purpose (tanking, damage, EW, Logistics) and depending on how you set them up they can fill the rolls of healer, tank, DPS and Buffer and also tackler. The only thing you listed that EVE currently lacks is the ability to get out of your ship and walk around stations, and that is something that CCP is planning on adding down the road when they get done some of the other more important additions that aren't just fluff.

Holythough- why, what happens after 14 days?

Is everything not so automated after 14 days?

Is everything not so boring after 14 days?

Are missions not so cookie cutter after 14 days?

Is the galaxy not so empty after 14 days?

Is the method in which you train skills not so stupid after 14 days?

Being in a battleship with 10 gun turrets and skills that now take 80 days to train won't make a mission to take cargo from point A to point B any more interesting.

Being in a super huge cruiser won't make watching going from one jump gate to another to get somewhere for 15 minutes, yes that's right FIFTEEN REAL TIME MINUTES, any less mind numbing.

Whether you play for 3 days or 3 years, EVE is a terribly boring game that you spend more time watching than playing.

And autorun in other MMO's is different HOW?

Is everything not so boring after 14 days?

If what you are doing in game is boring try something else to see if you like it. Some people actually enjoy mining. I don't know who those people are but there are some out there.

Are missions not so cookie cutter after 14 days?

If you don't like missions don't do them.

Is the galaxy not so empty after 14 days?

The starter systems typically have dozens of people in them, other systems hundreds, some systems are empty. There's 5000 solar systems and a map option to find pilots in space. If you want busy look for the big red dot showing most pilots in space.

Is the method in which you train skills not so stupid after 14 days?

It's not stupid before the 14 days are up so it can't be stupid after.

Being in a battleship with 10 gun turrets and skills that now take 80 days to train won't make a mission to take cargo from point A to point B any more interesting.

Why are you flying a battleship to haul cargo, their cargo space sucks, BS's are for blowing shit up, right tool for the job and all that.

Being in a super huge cruiser won't make watching going from one jump gate to another to get somewhere for 15 minutes, yes that's right FIFTEEN REAL TIME MINUTES, any less mind numbing.

And how long does it take to get from one end of one of WoW's continents to another by griffon? How about on foot? The travel time in EVE is not that different from other games. There are many ways to speed it up and many in-game things you can do while you are travelling. Anyone who things traveling in groundbased MMO's is any less boring than travelling in EVE is a tool.

Whether you play for 3 days or 3 years, EVE is a terribly boring game that you spend more time watching than playing.

I really don't know why but i'll field this...

What do you want to happen? EVE isn't linear, if you constantly run courier missions and hate them stop running courier missions, if you want to go blow people up then go blow people up.

Is everything not so automated after 14 days?
Well for a online game that has alot of players "twitch" style controls generally are a BAD idea. I remember losing several duels in WOW to -5 level characters becasue I lagged and wasn't hitting them because I was out of sync and saw them infront of me but they were behind me out of arc. I don't even play online games unless I can get on a server with less than 75ms latency or less if its "twitch" based in any way.

Is everything not so boring after 14 days?
As I said for the first question, why are you doing something that is boring? its not like you HAVE to kill NPCs to level or do anything else to be honest. Most players don't try different things for whatever reason. I can't stand mining in EVE I do it as little as possible and when I have to I try to get as many of my corpmates to help to get it done Quick. But as such I don't have to do it at all, I can buy a battleship instead of mining and building it my self if I want to save time and have money to burn.

Are missions not so cookie cutter after 14 days?
Missions are pretty repetative but with the new code update they have added new options for missions so future additions should be more complex.

Is the galaxy not so empty after 14 days?
The galaxy is as empty as you want it to be, At least till you hit your first .4 system with out check the players in system map and meet some Evil bastards. When you join a corp you have a much more direct interaction then at first. If I ever need help I get it usually very quick like the time it takes to for them to warp to me in system. Compared to my time WoW or CoH its very similiar with just getting the group organized some times taking upwards of 2-3 hours.

Is the method in which you train skills not so stupid after 14 days?
Well if you stick with the game as you begin to dig into the game system and the interactions you'll begin to realize the beauty of the system. No people who powerlevel thier charaters and have absolutely NO idea how to run them. You don't have that many people in medical ships trying to be a damage dealer or tank. EVE almost forces you to take the time to understand the mechanics of running the more advanced ships which help minimize the "oops, you mean as a Logisitics ship I should actually have stuff on my ship that boosts my Cap Regen rate?" as the tank dies because the healer ran out of cap and couldn't support him anymore.

Being in a battleship with 10 gun turrets and skills that now take 80 days to train won't make a mission to take cargo from point A to point B any more interesting.
And if your training for a Battleship, Why are you doing courier missions? Get a industrial or cargo frig/cruiser. If you want to fly a battleship and shoot stuff run missions from Command or Security agents which are 95-100% kill missions.

Being in a super huge cruiser won't make watching going from one jump gate to another to get somewhere for 15 minutes, yes that's right FIFTEEN REAL TIME MINUTES, any less mind numbing.
Why are you going some where that far away that often? The furthest I travel in any frequency is 4 jumps and more and likely only 1 jump. The one area my corp operates in 19 jumps away we go there spend a week or 2 then come back.  Thisw reduces the overall travel time. There are also several ways to shorten travel time and if you ask in the help channel to talk to someone about it, someone should be glad to explain it to you.

Whether you play for 3 days or 3 years, EVE is a terribly boring game that you spend more time watching than playing.I play EVE when I get on. I know what I want and I have figured out how to get it. I'm constantly trying to tweek my setups to be the most efficent possible. In the mean time I am setting up relationships with other Corporations or undermining my enemies. As vice-ceo I am constantly trying to accomplish about 16-30 things at once managing the Corp accounts, divisions, Members, and numerous other things.

While EVE is far from perfect it fits my play style. I don't want to shoot x amount of arrows to be a better archer or to kill 50k random monster B to get my next level or item. I want to be able to accomplish something be it constructive or destructive when I log on not worry about getting that next level to accomplish something.
