I was born and had lived in Russia until I was 12 then moved to the U.S. with my parents.  To show my age, lol, communism was still the powerhouse of the east when I moved.

Oddly enough, I was looking for a website that had news on all the mmorpgs out there.  On a lark I typed in my browser mmorpg.com and voila.

    Cool.

En1Gma .... would you go back to that country if given opportunity?

Moscow is in my list of European Trip but I don't think I can stay there for extended period of time because of cold weather.

I went back when I was 16 because my grandmother was dying and I have been there several times since the fall of Communism.  I lived about 32 miles east of Moscow.  If you go to Moscow to visit, you wont be disappointed.  Very nice city.

Born and live in the US.

First heard about mmorpg.com on the Eve Online forums. At the time players were being urged to come here and spam all +10 reviews to inflate Eves rating artificially. (Scammers in the game always needing more newbies to prey on) That makes it is a rarity for me; almost all my bookmarks were found using Google.

Eve is history, but I wandered back to mmorpg.com afterwards. Great for keeping track of what's happening with MMORPGs in general, and what's in the pipeline in particular. I do find the reviews and ratings useful, although I take em with a grain of salt knowing the motivations aren't always honest.

Nowadays mmorpg.com is a starting point anytime I'm out looking for info about MMOs.

have u  noticed that a good many of your posts are about how much EVE sucks even if it has nothing to do with the subject at hand?  Just thought I should point that out

I was born in America and I have never moved.  My video gaming career started with one of the first computers, but it was more of a game system.  It had games like pacman, spaceinvaders, and my favorite UG Olympics (the olympic games in prehistoric times), and it used a joystick similar to atari.  After that I played all the game consoles until in the last year or so my freind brought me into the world of mmorpg's, and I can't get out.

I found the website by typing in mmorpg on google, and thank goodness I did.  This is a great site with great information.

That's the story of how I first heard about this site. Isn't that the subject at hand?

That's how it happened. And it incidentally turned me off on mmorpg.com as a useful resource for awhile. Until a few weeks ago when I found out how they'd adjusted their review process to try and curb exactly that sort of rating spamming. (kudos to the mmorpg.com staff for that) So I think it's topical; it's the theme which led to my eventually becoming a member here.

You certainly appear to be a dedicated fan. Hey, for all I know it's you I have to thank for pointing me to this site in the first place.

Edit: Incidentally, the only other time I've mentioned the product was in response to a thread specifically about Eve. And ended up having to deal with a barrage of your fanboi baloney as a result. Maybe you could experiment with a bit of back the hell off.

    From Norway....

Found the site last fall(2002) Just after I got my ADSL, and was looking for games like UO, wich I played many years ago at a friends place just after it got out. Was searching in Altavista with MMORPG as keyword and visisted alot of game pages, and other sites like this, though the 2 similar(I think) I saw had quite a gap in time between its News posts etc.. Until I wandered in here, and saw the gamelist: Cha-Ching! Eureka! Pay-dirt etc etc :) as that was just what I had been looking for. Didn't register in a good while though.

Edit: Had to go look at the join date :P I just registered somewhere along the line, almost a Year after I found the site.

I was sitting here at my computer one day and my wife (who sits about 3 feet away) was furiously typing some reply to a post, getting passionate about it. Curious, I asked her what was up, she sent me the link over our LAN and I started to actually enjoy reading this site.

As I come cross to view the result of the poll, I find it quite stunning that not many people in this panel are from Asia.

Where do these people go to check the release of new MMORPG titles?

Canadian eh? Did a search for information on MMORPGs and happened to click to this site. I started coming back over and over to check the Game list and read up on new releases and then decided to create an account to enter the contests, rate the games I'd played and vote on the polls. It's a great site I don't know of another that has such nice, quick and easy access to info on sooo many MMORPGs.

Keep up the good work boys and girls.
