I don't know if this kind of thread is allowed here, and it may not be, but how about a pen and paper thread?
I play GURPS with some friends every so often. Fairly free-form RPGs with friends are wild and crazy. Like right now, we're doing this IRONRING campaign where we tried to disguise ourselves as agents of Skull and ended up fighting the Knights of Tor. (then eventually the avatar of Tor, thanks to someone putting on their artifact helmet) We all almost died in that one. It was hilarious.
Does anyone else here do D&D or GURPS?

If it wasnt for PnP Role Play Games, there wouldnt be any of the MMORPG games you are playing now.

some friends and I were playing PnP Star Wars RPG quite recently. We kinda got bored of that and started playing D+D again
It was about the only game i ever came across that would regularly require you to roll for your sanity.
Lots of fun
I used to be into chainmail back in the day, as well as DnD and its successors. The last one I tried was the Alternity universe. with my kids, I was GM and they played and liked it. Gotta hook'em while they young.
Anyway, if you like direct connections from PnP to mmorpg's I am working on one with a team and we are using the "Hero" system for it. Its going to be space adventure though, so no fairy+elves allowed in this one, sorry.

Anytime I'm in for serious role playing, I look to DnD. It's like...the ONLY game out there that makes any sense when it comes to role playing. I understand game engines and all, but a lot of MMOs just aren't built for quality role playing. WoW, EQ, all the high fantasy ones fall short of what's needed. That's what Ultima Online was my favorite game for a long time. No races, no classes, and the avatars were so graphically undeveloped that customization wasn't needed, you just described how your character looked in your profile. They looked the same because they all looked like ants from your view, unlike with modern day 3D RPGs where you can see that every priest girl has the same beautiful model-like face, and the priest can't wield a halberd if she wants to, but it wouldn't matter if she wanted to because everyone should be using that same super powerful legendary sword.
Anyway, yeah, DnD rules. After I left the server that I made my favorite RPing character on, I took him straight to DnD, where, even though he's a sorcerer, he can swing a sword. =0 Gosh almighty! Ok I'm done...
