No statues. There were plans to include a fame system which will allow a player with the highest fame to get a statue and stuff but the devs decided to scrap it because it wouldn't have worked. Another reason is that the fame system promoted competition between players instead of players working together.
Yeah the fame system has been changed to the 'influence' system. Fairly similar, as you gain influence by defeating baddies and completing missions etc. But influence is sort of like the currency of the game, you can spend it to do costume changes or to purchase Inspirations and Enhancements.
However, there will be a monthly comic book that will follow the storyline of the game and I've heard it will actually be possible for players to get into that comic book. Not sure how the selection process will be though.
Well i doubt it would be over runned...but then again looking at SWG...all people wanna do is grind thier skills as fast as they can. I saw some master proffesioned characters wearing their starting clothes....and as i said in a nother post, thank god we wont be seeing 200 people wearing the same armor. And also that not everyone is a commando or bounty hunter....But those complaints are for the SWG forum.
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason. --Jack Handy
Well I have first hand experience with something similar in UO. Player housing. If you go to any UO shard now, it's like a huge city. I don't want CoH to be a huge city of statues. So I kind of agree with Cryptic's desicion to pull the plug on the statues.
the statue idea was actually pretty cool, but i agree with heartless. i think it is better left alone not to do statues, for reasons already gone over.

Actually Heartless, there are only a few statues around the city. Maybe 2 or 3 depending on the area. In the pre-order disk you get a good idea of whats in the areas. Mostly big buildings. So the statue thing you won't have to worry about. But CoH is one of a kind and it looks really fun. Can't wait to try it

No, he meant players being able to get statues of themselves erected when they become famous enough. It was a feature described early on in development, but has since been cancelled. But yes, there are statues of either NPC or fallen heroes around the city.
Yeah their will still be statues and such in atlas park and etc, but only the heros that you can find in the paragon city history on the site. Like HeroOne and etc.

I remember being a master bountyhunter my 3rd day of playing SWG, but that of course was a bug, A simple macro command and I could be anything I wanted, well I could make other people see what I wanted to be anyway, what a fun day that was!
