Looking good. Reading your replies it seems you put more though init then some DEVs that get actually payed for their job. I betatested Mourning so i do know how badly people can screw up eventhough they get paid for what they are doing.
Made me chuckle when you replied potions will have a cooldown timer. Mourning didn`t have that in when it was "released".

I wish you only the best. I am sure it is along road to go down for ya still but i hope you can pull this off.
If you really put every dollar you get back in the game i am sure many will be more then willing to invest that.

I for myself happily pay 5 dollar if i know it goes back into the game. Better then pay 15 dollar to EA (or some similar company) so they can make another episode of the same of some game we had 10 times allready.

Thanks I appreciate it, for me it's my passion. I love games, especially MMORPG's, and I just want to make something really fun for a bunch of people to play. I know that since it is my passion and that is also true with most of the devs that we spend a lot of time thinking about everything even when we aren't working on the game.

There are bound to be problems, bug fixes, and other things like that but hopefully all the thinking will pay off and we won't have to fix to much, beta should really help with that.

And yes all the money is going back to the game for advertising, making it better, servers, etc. I've started up a company that is "producing/publishing" Etherea: Dark Genesis and after EDG is launched I'll be working to create some single player games, those I'll take the money from and cycle it into making other games and funding the company.

As far as profit goes though, I have a career so I don't need this money, besides I wouldn't have a better place to spend w/e money is made off of EDG and other games than making more games and making them better...that's what's fun.

Friday Bump

We are moving forward pretty quickly and will have screenshots out later this month. There will be a content filled Alpha by Christmas with the full beta shortly after. The game will launch after being in beta for awhile to find and solve the bugs of the game.

Friday bump, almost the end of October, meaning some screenshots coming soon. We've been setting up the Human Outpost to make it a larger better looking place because our engine can handle it (opposed to the engine we chose when we first started the project).

1) How are you coming along putting out a free version of the game? I usually want to try before i buy a game.

2) Is there going to be Mining and all that in the game like Runescape

3) Are there going to be Guilds in the Game?

4) If so is there going to be a guild war system?

5) Are you going to have mini games in Dark Genesis? I like the mini games in the Final Fantasy series and i realize most, if not all MMORPGs dont have minigames at all.

The attraction is, that rather than sitting on their assess and bitching about what games should be like and what devs should add/subtract from their games, these guys are doing it themselves.

I'll definately keep an eye on this.

Vesp is there any info you could give on the PvP system as of yet? Will it be open, or safe zones etc?

Thanks guys, as for the questions:
1. The free version part is actually a lot more complicated than I thought. I'm trying to work out all the different areas it could be bad and how it could be good. I think ultimately most people don't want a bunch of immature people playing on the server and many have told me that subscriptions usually keep that down one way or another. So my solution to the problem I believe is to have the free version of the game on another server, it'll be limited in a lot of what goes on but it'll be enough to test it out and if you can't afford the 5 dollars a month it'll still be enough to have fun.
I still have to test out the details though.
2. There will be mining, mining will be an important part to the crafting professions and the player run economy.
3. Yes
4. We are planning on implementing various styles of guild wars so players can not only participate but set what style the war is. (more info on this later)
5. As of right now mini-games are not set for launch, I think it would be a good addition to the game later on but we are working on the primary systems and content for launch.

As for PvP, there will be a good bit of emphasis on PvP as of the nature of the game without taking away from the PvE. That being said you will not be able to run up and kill someone not willing to participate UNLESS in a PvP zone. Most of the zones will not be PvP zones and you will have to flag yourself for PvP to participate. However, around certain key points certain zones will be PvP without option. These key points are part of the war like Forts, not dungeons.

It has a new model shot of a mob that will be in the Alpha Test as well as some information about what's been going on. Be looking for the Alpha Test in early Janruary if all goes well!
