Guild Wars 1 - By far the most surprising game I've played. Solid, fast, fun, beautiful, enjoyable storyline, and very reasonably priced. Maybe not a game for an MMORPG fan, but coming from LAN party RPGs it was a perfect fit for me.
SWTOR was the first, for me, that felt like it suffered from lack of optimization.
GW1 is easily the best I've seen. Looks sweet, runs on a toaster (slang for PC that makes more heat than processing power).

When WoW came out, the MMORPG genre had a massive influx of casuals. And I do mean massive, the MMO demographics went from a few millions in EQ, Lineage and FF, to tens of millions in a matter of a couple of years.

Many have an obvious agenda, which causes me to question the legitimacy of the post (haters mud-slinging a rival of their game). These I ignore. A replay just fuels their agenda.
Others are more of …

My preferred payment method is pay 2 grind.

Client is free, account is free, no box price.
All activity in game is behind a paywall, with payment made in virt…

I have mixed feelings.
As I see it, the AAA devs have pretty much dropped out of the MMORPG market. The Indies step in with a "games for gamers" mindset, pushing back against the streamlined convenient formula of quest hub hopping, rush to cap and…
