What you have downloaded is already the full game and you only need to pay a monthly fee after free trial is over. And don't listen to RedwoodSap, there is no plan of a new server or fresh server start in a near (or longer) future.

It's not gear dependant but crafter dependant. There is no gear to loot on mobs and NPC merchants sell crap. You have to buy all your stuff to crafter player (or craft yourself).
