As someone with 10k+ hours in the game I think open world pvp died when the 1% exp loss on no war pvp death was removed. It was the only thing preventing dying on purpose. Since that change there has not been a single reason to fight back.

I think old servers are the least of their problems. Most people I talk to about Maplestory just want classic servers. So either officially support the Maple Worlds version of that or make an actual version.
