I mean, like SWG where you had Corellia, Tatooine, etc. So you could have vastly different environments and terrain types without having to cover up your seams.
How about worlds vs world? Divergence Online is doing one world vs SWG's multiple. Having multiple gives more room for having large variety in terrain/settings without having to mask it with mountains or fog.

Doesn't matter. Lineage 2 had a huge grind but the game was happening regardless of "max level"(Which most people weren't even there for a long time) That's what matters. If you can enjoy the game.

I wouldn't put too much stake in population, though. Some of my best times in MMOs were in SWG and Lineage 2 or even early days WoW. It's more about the quality of the community, imo. As long as there are enough people to have a good economy.
